@BoxOfPocky: But honestly, FF13 was not only linear, it was flat and corridor-like.

It was almost as linear as Crash bandicoot... your only option was walk forward.

@meedokicky: Catalyst is really bad. And it's such a shame.

The game would have benefited if it was linear, with more interesting level design and action set-pieces.

The game was about fluidity, not running fetch quests and killing guards with a forced depressed goth protagonist.

@RSM-HQ: Witcher 3 did have technical problems, but the open-world totally worked for the franchise, and for the story, and for the setting.

Developers seem to think that making a open-world game is easier, but its not.

If they can't fill their world with interesting characters and missions, and can't manage to create a interesting story INSIDE that open-world, they should focus on making it linear.

Honestly, can't wait for the revival of the linear game.

A lot of open-world games would be better if the story and missions were given in a linear fashion.

Those "ubisoft-esque" fillers are getting boring.

It should have been a advertised as a new Portable other than a new console.

As a portable, it is unmatched, but as a home console, its weaker than PS4 and Xbox One, and these consoles are getting higher specs replacements.

@ps3gamer1234: You are only taking the technical side into consideration. It you take the artistic side, it does raise a few red flags.

I mean, sure, they know how the engine works, but the creative side of making a game is slow and takes a lot of time for perfection.

That's how ubisoft and activison managed to release a new AC and COD every year... they only had to worry about the technical side, since almost no creativity was added into those game, and most mechanics and story are copy-paste of previous games with a few changes.
