Picked up a copy of World of Warcraft for £10 today ($20). Despite being embraced by nerds everywhere and having the reputation of a rabbid dog it seems like a great game and defiently one for me.
Now, I always knew you paid a subscription fee but I never imagined so much. And it's not like buying a game whereby I just hand over money, I have to use my Mum's debit card. So I'm happy to dish out the money and I go and ask my Mum. Now the problem is that she's way to old to understand abou servers and **** and she's ****ed like hell that I have to pay more. And then my Dad comes in. Now my Mum doesn't know about tech and modern stuff but my Dad doesn't know about anything. So I tell him it's 8 quid a month, so he goes off the wall about it costing £100 per year. So I explain that they do different deals so a year if you buy in one cost only £90, and then he rants I'm trying to ****ing blind him with science. No offence but I could blind him with the iTunes interface, he can't work a thing.
And that brings me to my next point. I have always down my parents lack of tech skill to bad eye sight and hand eye co-ordination created by the ****s who made this damn unresponsive keyboard I'm typing with now. But then I met one of my Mum's friends son who lives on an island of 6 kids in Scotland. Now over their broadband and satellite are impossible and he spends his days watching terrestrial TV and kicking a football. Now we left him with the Sky box and he was worse then my parents. It wasn't hard, press the up arrow to scroll forwards and the down for backwards, then press select button to choose the channel.
"Well gee, where's the button" he grumbled in his Scottish accent
What? As if it wasn't already labelled it was in the most logical place imaginable. So now I know why old people can't use anything, they aren't use to thinking for themselves, everything was spoonfed by their parents and they've just copied that forever.
"Oh, but wait till you end up like them"
But I won't. First off I won't take my eye off the tech seen, secondly I won't be depressed about being lonely and having just a cat for company. I live in the **** hole of nowhere and am all by myself, I do have friends just I never see them outside of school, so I got a geek life with friends online, that'll be just how I spend my retirement, in a house full of tech. Finally I won't be too proud to see a doctor and will find out if I have cancer before it's to late, have proper gl****es and not get arthritis.
