@AleksBo @OHGFawx yes I am with you on this one, RE2 being my favorite RE game out of the whole series, REmake comes second. The thing about RE2 is, they somehow managed to nail the atmosphere dead on in that game and it boost a fantastic soundtrack. I remember Mikami said that the theme of RE2 was desperation and they wanted to achieve that feeling by adding a very eerie soundtrack to it and that is the reason why its so loved it brings all elements perfectly together like gameplay, survival horror, action, atmosphere and sound. Man that game needs a much deserved overhaul but I doubt they will do it having in mind that the current gen wants more run and gun RE titles than remakes.
sigh... its sad that after all this years golden eye and riddick escape from butchers bay are still the only two games that did not suck or better yet surpassed its movie counterparts.
"Everyone was expecting us to make Modern Warfare 4, which would have been the safe thing to do" what a load of bull, you know what the safest thing to do is ? Listening to the community (oh I forgot they are all mostly kids) and actually remove the god damn annoying things like OP killstreaks, lag, max16 player cap and stupid instaknifing also release a decent PC port with true dedicated servers.
@Kryptonbornson yes thats very true they even said the pre-rendered backgrounds were more like a disc space limitation, I remember Final Fantasy 7 and 8 used the same pre rendered backgrounds and came on several discs or the X files playstation game had a ton of them xD Still people put thoughts and great concepts into the games in 1990, today everything feels almost generic, the last good survival horror that captures a great tense atmosphere is Amnesia, even Dead Space 3 jumped on the run and gun bandwagon :[
@DarkNeoBahamut yeah the problem was they intended to boost the GameCube with Resident Evil games, initially Code Veronica was planned as RE3 and RE3 Nemesis was planned as a PS1 spinoff but they changed it back so that RE3 became RE3 and Code Veronica which was considered to be RE3 well became Code Vernoica, also Shinji Mikami said back in is days that he would commit harakiri if RE4 would ever see the light of other consoles, which it did XD so it was all a big GameCube exclusive thing back then. I am glad that Capcom brings at least RE Revelations out for everyone to enjoy.
The dialogue in the original was really so bad its almost good, like "there are terrible demons, ouuchhh" or "its me Chris <3 ! Rebecca is that you >:[" ? there were so many captain obvious moments in that game its a classic.
