GTA's appeal has never been graphics. Mafia went toe to toe with GTA 3 due to the fact that it offered much of the same freedom, sandbox play, and open ended story as GTA 3. Mafia was missing a few things that GTA 3 had, but also had features GTA 3 didn't. The graphics had nothing to do with it.

The same can be said for the upcoming clash between GTA 4 and Mafia 2. Whichever delivers the more immersing and entertaining gameplay elements will be the victor. not the shiniest.

One game that has a lot of really cool looking armor in, God help me, World of Warcraft. I can't remember any specific sets but there were some pretty awesome looking sets.

Also, Shas O' Kais's armor in Dawn of War is pretty nice.

Zombies are much more satisfying to kill and fun to outsmart. Where as I've killed so many aliens in my time the act of it has lost all luster. And the aliens have advanced super brains so they are hard to outsmart with my primitive monkey mind and opposable thumbs.

I'll fight zombies.

Considering almost all of that level was made from scratch I would wager that this game will be a great deal of fun. If you have absolutely no imagination then I can see how it might get dull.

[QUOTE="Private_Vegas"]Happy to contribute. If you don't mind me asking, why did you make this thread? Simply for the sake of conversation, or will you be using this input for something?Begemott

I got a new comp almost a month ago. I installed all games I had to rerun them for a smooth ride. Ex: Hellgate, Orange Box, Savage 2 etc etc. (Mostly the recent ones). I finally decided to test out Company of Heroes demo [original one], and LOVED it. So I will be stopping by Best Buy to get the Gold Edition, and also Vampire: Bloodlines (And MAYBE Jade Special Edition).

The reason for DoW and Sins topic is that I was also considering to buy these two. I bought WH40k and Winter Assault on the first week of their release. While it is a great game, its not something that I would love and call my favorite. I wanted to see if I should continue on with Dark Crusade and Soulstorm. Sins, well simply because everyone praises it, and I always loved games that made gameplay refreshing.

Then I'd like to give a piece of advice. If you enjoy the single player campaign of RTS games, to a significant degree, then continuing the the Dawn of War expansions might be more worth your while. Dark Crusade isn't too story heavy. Instead of a traditional linear campaign it has a world conquest mode where you capture territory and eliminate the other races one by one. At the start/end of a campaign and after each race is defeated you get a nice little blurb about the battle(s) and some neat tidbits of info on the commanders, but that's about it.(If you have video game OCD like me then completing the conquest with all factions is pretty fun.) Not a thick plot by any means. I'm not sure about Soulstorm. I havn't picked it up yet, but I think it follows the same system. The two expansions don't offer too much of a story, but it's much more than what Sins gives.

If the story of RTS games arn't an important factor to you then disregard this.

Dawn of War or Company of Hero's. Can't go wrong with Relic. If you like RTs campaigns then company of Hero's would be a better bet.

Also, there is something to be said about the peaceful entertainment offered by a game like Sim City or a Tycoon game. there is still strategy involved... a different kind of strategy, but strategy non-the-less. Just an alternate suggestion.

I heartily recommend Command & Conquer 3. C&C is one of the major pillars of RTS gaming. If you enjoy that even a little bit then you should really like Halo Wars and Endwar, since they are more familiar franchises/developers.
