@guitarwarrior66: Sometimes I make the mistake of reading your comments... It's never worth it. Instead of 15 points to nobody, let me say 2 points to you:
You are not representative of all "gamers"; you are just one type of gamer, nothing more. People play games for many different reasons. Art manifests in video games differently than in other media, and many people connect with it and play games because of that. Story-based games are still games, regardless of your narrow take on what a game or art is.
You clearly don’t understand what the industry is about, what art is about, or what games are about. I’m not saying you’re unintelligent, but you keep commenting on things you don’t seem to understand. Of course, you can continue writing these walls of text filled with deeply personal and uninformed opinions. I get it: when you’re online, you don’t see the reactions people have when they "hear" what you’re saying, so it might feel different than in real life. But if those reactions aren’t clear to you, just read the comments on your posts. It’s uncomfortable watching people embarrass themselves like this.
Theres a guy in your camp that lets you respec your character: pick a new subclass or even a class if you wanna to. But if you are a paladin and broke your oath you need to solve that before respec.
@Vodoo: yes... just your experience. Aside from story, I would play Palworld over Pokemon any day, and I love Pokemon. And the game is still in early development.
@joecollin: you know what... you are right. The first time I saw this I thought "This game is stupid, look at these numbers... this is UX hell". However, I ignored the target audience. Thanks for reminding me who these games are for.
@guitarwarrior66: You really have issues with conversations, don't you? No, you didn't mention "real gamer" word by word, but you sure have the same gatekeeper behavior.
There's no strict definition of what a game is. You are just clinging to the one that satisfies the types of games you like, nothing else.
But again, a lot of ppl prefer to have stories mixed with gameplay, something a movie won't give you.
Maybe one day someone will come up with a closed definition of what a video game is and the community will accept it. With the maximum allowed ratio of cut-scenes to "gameplay". Maybe they will issue certifications defining if a program is really a game or not. But for now, games are more diverse than that.
Death Stranding is a game, whether you like it or not.
