Good Tales game so far. The reviewer is cleary a little burned out of JRPGs. Need a break to review other genres.
I've also played every single Tales Of released in english and yes, the story does follow the same formula.
But i don't know why this is a problem. Most fantasy settings ( game or not ) does: world in danger, young ppl will protect it.
What i love in tales games is their abillity to discuss important themes in a way kids can digest.
Tales of the Abyss: Religion, fate, value of life ( the best story in my opinion )
Tales of Vesperia: Political change, reform vs revolution.
Tales of Xillia: Chosen one, blessing or hardwork.
Tales of Graces: Loneliness
I really hope Tales series keep it that way. I mean, I also love Witcher series. The books are great in presenting a economically believable fantasy setting. I love it's darker mood and everything that polish god wrote.
But veteran players must remember that they aren't the only ones playing video games. Ppl of all ages and cultures comes in everyday. For many, Zestiria will be the first Tales they play, and say its bad because its follow the same formula is irrelevant.
P.S.: All games I like is stupid somehow, it' how the world is.
Tales of: Love and Friendship will solve it all
Witcher: Wow, boobs and blood... So mature that i'm glad next mont i'll be able to meet the ESRB requirements!
Final Fantasy: Oohhh suffering... ohhh how i'm mysterious and special.
Persona: Story is like any japanase teen whatsapp group.
Dragon Age: evil milk, evil cookie, everything is so evil the world so dark and lost.
