Oh boy, now I get an error if I try to enable windows firewall. Also broken now I guess. Sigh :(

Now I'm not sure anymore if it was the update or not.
This is what happend:
Everything functions properly this morning, and there was a small windows 7 update. I restarted my pc and everything seemed ok. After a while I turned my PC off because I had to go. I come back turn on my pc, and on startup I see a crazy black screen with stuff written on it about some sort of HDD control/checkup, I'm not sure exactly what it did, so I just clicked a button to cancel. After seeing the windows changes, I restarted and did the HDD control/checkup whatever it is.
Problem still here.
Soundcard drivers installed according to control panel, so is my graphics card I think. The default light blue windows 7 theme still not changed. Am I in safe mode? If so how the hell do I get out of it O_o
So I got a windows 7 update, and now my sound card (creative soundblaster audigy) seems to not work properly anymore. I went trough alot of trouble to find proper installation files to make it function with windows 7 and it worked perfectly! Now this recent windows 7 update completely screwed it up. More changes happend though, seems like I can't change the window theme anymore. Its now light blue by default. Almost seems like I'm in safe mode O_o
Who knows what else this update has changed.
I really am not in the mood for technical issues, and I'm confused where to start now. Anyone know what might have gone wrong?
I've been playing alot of Starcraft 2 lately, and every now and then the game hitches on me, makes me mad man. The game isn't a resource hog as far as I know so I figured gotta be my memory.
I too want to keep using my current PC untill I can upgrade, probably in 2012 though. I just don't see any incentive to upgrade at this time.
Memory seems cheap though, but I'l only buy one if it actually benefits my perfomance.
Ok so I have made the jump from XP to Windows 7 for past few months now. And sometimes I have the feeling my PC struggles with some processes due to lack of memory.
I have currently Intel Q6600, 2GB ram DDR2 667mhz, 8800GTS 512mb. My motherboard is Asus P5B.
Been wanting to buy new memory but problem is I use Windows 7 Ultimate 32 bit edition. Been reading everywhere 32bit supports 3GB Ram maximum. I figured I'd buy an additional 1GB ram but then it won't run in dual channel wich makes it a waste.
How big of a bottleneck is it if I keep my current RAM? Damn time is flying by so fast. It seems like yesterday I played Crysis 1 and 2GB seemed plenty for windows XP. Nowadays people have up to 8GB ram, holy shiet!
I wouldn't say Activision leaves Blizzard completely independant. They both have to please the same shareholders, and the recently new added features to Starcraft 2 and Cataclysm such as RealID, iPhone/Facebook applications is all on the influence of Bobby Kotick Activision.
I don't like the way Activision has affected Blizzard the past few years personally. A few months after the Activision and Blizzard merge Starcraft 2 was anounced to be a trilogy with seaperate campaign for Teran, Zerg and Protos. This isn't coincedence.
I'd be saddened if Activision succeeds in acquiring Take Two. The only positive thing I see in this is Take Two's financial side. I guess this is both good and bad.
Eitherway I doubt it'l happen.
Soon i will make the upgrade from XP to Windows 7. I will have to buy new memory from 2GB to 4GB.
I have a Quad Core 6600 non oc 2,4GHz, 2GB ram DDR2 667mhz, 8800GTS 512MB. All on a Asus P5B Motherboard.
I'm thinking of replacing my memory completely and just go for DDR2 1066 4GB in total. I'm not sure if it will work, and if its even necessary?
Help me out here :)

[QUOTE="ferret-gamer"]have you tried baking your 8800gts?ferret-gamer
Woah, wait a second. Baking my graphics card? really now?
At first it all started with my game freezing. When I restarted the whole system wouldn't startup aymore, lots of red stripes and coloured pixels. I started my PC with onboard video card and it seemed to function, so its not the monitor. tried different video cards even.
Anyways, if I'm not being trolled here, what would baking my 8800 GTS512 be helpfull for :O ?
Yes it would, im not joking, baking the graphics card can remelt the solder and fix the problems cause by microfracturing that plague nvidia cards just like what you are describing. I actually did it to my GTX 280 and it worked, you can see pics herehttp://www.gamespot.com/users/ferret-gamer/show_blog_entry.php?topic_id=m-100-25872411&tag=all-about;blog1
Thanks! I will take a look at this.
Edit: Seems like a difficult procedure. I don't have thermal paste. And I'm not sure if I'm able to dismantle it myself. Will have to research more maybe.
Doesn't both GTS250 and HD4870 have 2 power supply slots? I hope my corsair 520 watt can handle it.

Unbelievable as it is, it has a 30% chance of ressurection. No, I'm dead srs. (Maybe not about the percentage part, but yeah it is possible)
Allright, what is the procedure of this baking process. Do I remove things from the card first? Maximum heat of my baking oven? I'm completely clueless about this. How do I go about doing this.
