I still LOVE my Philips Ambilight 2 that illuminates the entire area behind/around my flatscreen with whatever colors are on the edge of the screen. Take any Skyrim blue sky with rolling green field, or Eridium Blight in Borderlands 2, and it extends the image and "feel" around the entire wall. Great stuff -- glad to see MS shamelessly rip it off. (LOL)
SpamBox... I've been hating this for the last year, and it's just getting worse. At least they're honest about it. "You can play your game right after this pop-up video ad plays." <-- that's how this generation of gaming dies.
Yep -- I officially switched all of my purchases from there to Amazon as of yesterday. Better interface, order handling, and just as many pre-order bonuses.
It's simple: If the games are fun and you enjoy them, buy them. If not, play/buy something else. The market will decide the final outcome -- as it always does.
That said, I've been advising folks to dump Gamestop shares for a year now; I'm glad to see the market finally catch up.
"It's a ridiculous premise that's ultimately urging people to turn off their Xbox in favor of Microsoft's biggest competitors." <-- Someone, please PROVE this. Show me the numbers. Last I saw, Sony/SOE continuously hemorrhages money while MS has a larger subscriber base (not to mention installed base) and net profit. Bad editorializing presented as fact is NOT FACT.
Ugh... Building carrier-class network services, capable of withstanding massive surges in traffic (not to mention the huge list of benefits that come with Gold) ---IS NOT FREE---. Look what Sony's desperate attempt to "change the marketplace" got them: PWN3D, repeatedly, with regular service outages in between. If PSN is what "free" buys you, then you can keep it. I'm perfectly happy paying for TWO Gold accounts for my household (one for me, one for family), and I'm happy with the service that has provided over the years.
