Aren't you thinking short term? Why not support them both?

[QUOTE="RKFS"]So why are games like Zelda selling well if the majority of Wii players are "non-gamers"?karicha9

When did I ever say the majority of Wii players are "non-gamers"?

No, but, other people are...

[QUOTE="HeedleGlavin"][QUOTE="karicha9"]So you would call those people at the retirement homes that play the Wii gamers?karicha9

Is there an age limit on being a gamer? Furthermore, even if old people aren't "gamers" - that dosen't mean that the Wii dosen't appeal to anybody else.

Let's get back on-message, folks. Wii is for selling to non-gamers. Once a person has purchased a Wii, they are potential targets for Wii software. That reduces the problem to one of creating software that these demographics will purchase.

Yeah, I think Ninty needs another title past Wii Sports and Wii Play to get these people to keep interest. I don't think Trauma Center took too well and I'm not sure Cooking mama will.

What keeps them from eventually playing more "hardcore" games?

Taste, clearly.  Look at the DS.

So why are games like Zelda selling well if the majority of Wii players are "non-gamers"?

[QUOTE="RKFS"]So the majority of people who fuel the market aren't gamers to you? karicha9

Where did you get that?

Well look at Wii's sales...

And most of them are elderly that only play Wii sports?

Really? Because games like Zelda and Red Steel are the top sellers...

This is horrible use of logic, by the way.

It's like saying that vegetarians aren't vegetarians because at one point in their life, they partook of meat.

You're way too hooked up on the technicalities of being a gamer, and ignoring the message of specific demographic marketing that Nintendo is employing.

karicha9
Actually it's the opposite, if these people are now playing games (vegetarians) they should no longer be considered non-gamers (meat eaters),

[QUOTE="RKFS"][QUOTE="PotatoSandWitch"][QUOTE="RKFS"][QUOTE="PotatoSandWitch"][QUOTE="Zhengi"]It's obvious you've never even touched Zelda for the Wii. Don't make assumptions if you're not going to try out the game first. I think Zelda for Wii controls better than conventional controllers.PotatoSandWitch
my brother has owned a Wii since Xmas and hasn't played it for a week or so because Zelda has no replay value (to me or him, anyways) and WarioWare lasted him a couple of days before I proved him right that he wouldn't like it (because it sucks). I've played Zelda up to about where you get the wolf. And the controls feel amazingly clunky to me.

Ah but have you played the Gamecube version? On and Zelda and WarioWare aren't the only games on Wii you know...

There are going to be a huge number of games for every system and most of them are going to suck. As of now, Zelda is the only Wii game worth purchasing. The games that really take more advantage of the Wiimote are way too simple so far.

And simple games are bad?

For the most part, they are only worth a rental. Actually, for the most part, they are pretty bad. Monkeyball (brother rented it) turned out to be a big disappointment after having a pretty good time with a monkeyball for the gamecube we played a while ago.

Well my favorite games are usually simple ones so I think it's a matter of taste...

What about Godfather? I've been hearing good things about it from reviews and other players.

Your standards are incredibly low. We aren't the richest people and we can't afford to pay 50 bucks for a game that isn't going to be something special. I tried very hard to convince my brother not to get WarioWare.

[QUOTE="Zhengi"][QUOTE="afdevil24"][QUOTE="Zhengi"][QUOTE="afdevil24"]So basically all sheep care about is sales and are blind to the mediocre graphics the Wii is pumping out.afdevil24
Where were you last gen? If you can't understand why sales are important, then no need to step in when the adults are having a conversation. :D

sales mean nothing this gen. wii has half the sales of 360 and wii has crap games while 360 has amazing games.

Why would sales suddenly mean nothing? If that were true, why are 3rd party devs scrambling to release games for the Wii? If anything, there should be less games announced, not more. So how do you explain that?

cuz it's about the games.

And games on Wii can't be good, it's impossible?
