It's more and more obvious that the PS3 is getting the shorter end of the stick when it comes to ports and even single party games being shfted by the media. What is causing this trend of ever changing face for the company that last gen was nominated the homecoming king of video games?
well the first thing that we come across is the hardware. The tools to utilize the PS3's power are far from idea for the platform. The games they are trying to deliver as graphical show horses are nothing more than texture murder, and particle bambardment. The frame rates are constantly in flux and the texture appear to have no more depth to them than the PS2's. WHile the 360 shows depth from every angle possible.( The textures look to be %100 3-d from all angles on 360) while flat on the PS3 from one angle and 3-d from another. The split memory is defended by sony fans but it is clear it was not the better choice as the 360 enjoys better fps and better texture stability in memory expensive situations. To put it short, it has some nexgen oddities Sony has thrown into the system.
Next is software. This is simple to say, it really is a game of wait and see. There are clear cut AAA titles in the pipe. they just take time. But when was the last time you knew a sony console to NOT have games? yeah me niether. So the only complain would be that the hurry up and wait game is the downers. really.
The bluray. Sony better just hope it becomes the standard. they really had better hope. so should we, as I enjoy many other sony products. The PS3 would be a huge hit. It would effect the other sectors of Sony and may cause dramatic downsize of all departments because of financial hit. OK... ok.....im BS-n- they would just dump stock and counter the hit. but it would hurt. alot.
the competition. NINTENDO and MICROSOFT. both are beating the PS3 in total and for the most part monthly sales. (keep your world wide bs out of this. If the PS3 cantsell half a mill more a month around the world it doesnt matter). But if sony does drop the price and realease a NEW COLOR ( yes a white version already) it will save the system. really, it would.
in the end Sony is Sony.They are in a place non of us can tell. They appear to be injured right now. But you never know if they are just playing possom, or if they are indeed, in trouble.
