@scottyp360: You might count that, but that really seems to muddy the concept of censorship. If you're cutting scenes to get a more family friendly rating so that you make more money is that really censorship? Or is it just a business decision?
@scottyp360: Ratings do not equal censorship. All they exist to do is tell people something about the content of the movie. In fact, they can actually serve to push against censorship. Without some kind of rating system, people don't know what they're signing up for and so restricting the sorts of content that can be produced makes a certain amount of sense. With ratings, however, you have or should have, some idea what you're in for.
