Shocked that no one mentioned Diddy Kong Racing. That was everything Mario Kart 64 should have been. Once you'd played that game Mario Kart 64 was no longer fun lol. One of the best multiplayer games ever.
I'd put the entire Prince of Persia series before both God of War titles. If you've never played them before, I recommend buying Sands of Time and giving it a go. Great puzzles, great gameplay, slick controls.
My all-time favourite game. I haven't found another game that makes exploring and back tracking as enjoyable and rewarding as this. This game is as close to perfect as I could ever expect.
This is my first time on this particular forum, but it's cool to see people taking an interest in retro gaming. I grew up through the days of the NES, SNES, Master System and MegaDrive/Genesis. To this day I consider it to be the best era of gaming. :)

3D GTAs are not about graphics, and they never have been. They are about exploring a world, immersing yourself, and exploring. Its more than just an action game. 2d gtas don't have anything about them that makes them fun. The DS can easily handle a 3d GTA. If you want a 2d GTA, buy the GBA version. The DS and The DS Lite both play GBA games, you know?
That doesn't really make sense, unless you're making a contradiction. You're saying that 3D GTA's are not about graphics, but about immersion. Then you suggest that 2D GTA's aren't about immersion, because they 'don't have anything about them that makes them fun'. Let's Ignore the fact that the gameplay concept and execution between the 2D and 3D GTA's are near identical.
You've just stated that 3D GTA games aren't about graphics, but yet graphics do matter in a GTA game. Or at least that is what it appears you have stated. I don't get it otherwise.
