Mario Kart 7 will be my first be my first online 3DS title too, unless I pick up Tetris first. Hoping for something a little more smooth.

The trailers are better quality than the E3 ones and they come with automatic updates, which I believe will keep you posted on details regarding the games you're watching. The Animal Crossing one is good, as is the short, but sweet Mario Tennis.

Yup. The 3DS is apparently selling quite well now. At least in Japan. There is a strong line up of games coming over the next year, with November/December kicking off things quite dramatically. As for waiting for a revised model. It's up to you, but there are only 6 games that support the 2nd thumb slider. None of which specifically require it. As a 3DS owner, i'm also hoping, but i'm doubting a revised model will include a 2nd slider. Not just because of the lack of games that support it already, but they'd also have to include 4 shoulder buttons, instead of the standard 2, which would make the console a lot thicker at one end at least. There's a reason the Vita does without double shoulder buttons and its all to do with the consoles size and shape.

It really depends on what you want from a shooter. Xevious is just straight up shooting and dodging. There's nothing more to it, but its very, very tough. Twinbee doesn't seem to be as hard, but has this unique power up system that dictates most of the gameplay. I'd have to say I find Twinbee a little more enjoyable, but both are pretty good games.

By the way, these kind of recommendation threads usually get locked. I think there's a sticky thread around, but i've never bothered to have a look.

If we include all downloadable games, i'm on 21. That includes the 10 ambassador games to date, the 4 3D Classics, and 4 VC games.

That is to say, there aren't too many 3DS games with any kind of online at the moment. The only two I can think of right now are Street Fighter 4 and Dead or Alive Dimensions. Mario Kart and Kid Icarus are coming though!

Can't say I would like achievements/trophies. If games want to implement them, then do it in game. Most of the time they're a waste of time, having been poorly implemented.

I much prefered the Wii Donkey Kong Country to the SNES ones, so i'd have high hopes for it I guess. Personally i'd like to see a 3D Donkey Kong game in the same vein as the old 2D Donkey Kong games on the NES and GameBoy.

No you didn't. Link's Awakening is the only Virtual Conzole Zelda on the 3DS. It's just people have just started to talk about A Link to the Past for some reason.

Anyway, it all depends on how well you get on with older games in general. Link's Awakening is definitely one of my favourite games in the series. It probably has the heaviest implementation of a story for any Zelda game at the time, although it still takes a back seat throughout the majority of the game. It does have a good 15+ hour campaign though, with some clever dungeon puzzles and a massive area to explore. The graphics have an almost NES charm about them, which I find quite appealing, and the controls are simple and easy to work with.

I would strongly recommend it. If you do enjoy it, it would open the door to other older Zelda games, such as A Link to the Past, The Oracle of Ages and The Oracle of Seasons. Not that you'll find those on the eShop.

Resident Evil definitely doesn't need the 2nd slider. The controls were simple and tight. It all makes sense and you don't even use all the buttons available. I enjoyed my time with it yesterday. MGS was just confusing though. Having to switch between the slider and d-pad every few seconds was confusing.
