@dexda: and then you would have something that isn't Call of Duty. Despite the criticisms of the vocal minority, it continues to be the #1 game franchise of all time for a reason. At its core, it has to remain fundamentally the same, just like Madden still has to be a football game although tweaks are made yearly.
I've always believed that it's not the core of the game that needs to change, but the players who have played for years grow out of it. They add something different to the mix each year, and some years the changes are better received and better for the franchise than others. At its heart, CoD is still going to be an addictive, competitive arcade shooter...but those who have played for years just get tired of it, as they do most anything else. And then they blame it on the game. People post reverent comments about the glory days of Modern Warfare, WaW, even Black Ops while they bitch about the newest game every year. When those games were new, people bitched about them, too. In the future, they'll post about the glory days of Infinite Warfare while they bitch about whatever game is out that year. It's an endless cycle. But ultimately they speak with their wallets.
Finished the campaign and ranked up to only 20 in the DZ before the update, but I was bored after the campaign. My main group of Xbox friends play it religiously but I just can't do it. Regret buying the season pass.
