@jumbso @Redblaze27 Carolyn explained her criteria for a 10 earlier in the comments, although I don't personally agree with those grounds for the number, I understand and it still doesn't answer the question of "why didn't it reach a 9?".
The reason it matters is to give the reader a stronger understanding of where the reviewer is coming from with their perspective. Its not a matter of saying what she already is invalid, but it would give a more complete understanding.
@carolynmichelle @smokeless_0225 Not Citizen Kane per-say, but rather what the product in review is doing(or not doing) to reach its own maximum potential.
@jumbso The issue for the most part in these comments is not that the score of 8 is bad or that the game doesn't deserve an 8, but rather how the reviewer came to the conclusion of giving the game that score when the review does not really point to a reason of the game being held back from a higher score.
@The-Neon-Seal @Redblaze27 The way i'd view it is that a 10 means the game is living up to its maximum potential. The only improvements that could made are ones based on technology that doesn't exist yet (or is not commercially available yet).
If a game has no apparent flaws, perhaps the the question of "what halts the game from reaching the heights of a 9" should be asked to determine a negative bullet point. A bullet point i'm sure the game developers could be proud of as its likely something small of purely a subjective issue.
