one endboss does not take away from a games narrative from being epic or deep. and the end boss was massive and well fun. and over the top? have you played other games before. I'm sorry I was playing games like Bayonetta not to long ago, Mass Effect 2 is tamed if you really want to call it over the top. It's flashy, thats a better word.

The Boss fight was very flashy, and such an obvious reference to another Scifi flick. But hey it presented a fun choice. The narrative is epic for the scale and how personal it gets. It's deep for how much further it goes with the fiction of the series and the revelations, and I'm having the hardest time taking someone serious when they are telling me KOTOR had better character interaction or even better cast of characters. Penalty flag for false advertisement.

In Kotor characters were more fleshed out and felt more natural. Also every character had a "personal quest" just like here, i don't see any difference between the two in terms of character interaction other than in ME2 you are forced to do their quests. Only in KOTOR i cared for the characters, because you spend time with them unlike here where you talk to them once they give you their cliched story, you shoot some stuff and do their quest and im now supposed to care for them?

what the hell do you do in kotor that is even that different or worthy of note. You find character(how the hell was finding some of these characters anymore natural, it isn't like you go out of the blue to find these people in Mass Effect 2), you conversate, you learn about them more as you go and you do there missions. Mass Effect 2s characters have there own story, and alot of there stories ended up being interesting. Again everyone is entitled to his own opinion, but Kotors cast of characters were filled with as many cliche's as Mass Effects. So I'm really finding it hard to praise that game, and then not praise Mass Effect.

To me Mass Effect is just better done. Exploration was better in KOTOR. And where Kotor's gameplay lacks versus ME is that ME2 is more engaging and visceral, but KOTOR was a bit more strategic and overall deeper into the customization. That Said I prefer Mass Effect 2s way of doing things

It's not really KOTOR vs ME2 im just saying that the character interaction everyone is praising was done better before, it was done in DA too and it never really got personal for me in any game.

I don't really know what's so good about this game. The shooting is better than the first but it can't match up with some other third person shooters out there. I really can't grasp it was it the interaction with the party members because in KOTOR it was done so much better and much more natural. That's what you do in this game. Shoot, talk to party members, shoot some more, scan planets with some sort of minigame which ceases to be interesting in the first 10 seconds. I would rate it 7/10. Wish i didn't spend money on this game.

[QUOTE="Revan_911"][QUOTE="jg4xchamp"]Just beat the game and I have to disagree. The game was fun as hell, and the narrative was entertaining from start to finish. I'd say it was as epic as you could freakin get. I'm sure major scifi nuts will find some stuff to be "cliche" but to me it was well designed, well thought out, and far more inspired than anything Bioware has done in awhile. Quite frankly the game kicks ass :)jg4xchamp

Oh common you finished the game the end boss was the most over the top and stupid thing ever in a game so that presents itself as epic/deep, i could barely make a straight face while fighting him.

[QUOTE="Revan_911"][QUOTE="Twin-Blade"] lol wut? Kotor is what seven years old? I didn't hate the game i just found it boring and over pretentious. I mean why would the game assume i want to hear the life story of every person i meet. Cut the jibba jabba, those dialogues were not deep or particularly well written. Twin-Blade

I get the feeling you watch Zero Punctuation, because that's what he said about the first. Some NPCs did speak a lot in the first, but I've yet to find an NPC that talks for ages about their back story, unless prompted (optional) & even then, it pauses a lot for you to direct the story by asking specific questions or ending the conversation. I also feel they are both well written & well voice acted. But maybe you are right, if I remember correctly you are the self proclaimed Sci-Fi story expert. Not those words exactly, but I think you know what I mean, I don't want to have to go through my post history to find the thread to quote from.

He probably means if there is any game offering three options for every action you take but every option leads to the completely the same conclusion.Revan_911

......

You don't have to like the game, you may feel you have to rant about it for days before & after its release, but do you have to make stuff up to try & put your point across? The game is critically acclaimed, & you don't like it, fair enough. If you have to bore us with your complaints, try to find real faults with the game.

I did find faults in the game. No RPG elements, Borefest, not enough interesting characters, Scaning planets is balls, ridiculous end boss.

It seems that every game that uses the Unreal Engine stutters a bit when i move arround. When i stand still nothing happens but when i move from one end of a room to the other the game stutters for about half a second and then everything returns to normal. This doesn't happen in games that use other engine, its just the unreal engine. Games like ME2, ME, SAW, Last Remnant and Oblivion( not Unreal, but im not sure if stutering in oblvion is normal). I did a reinstall of OS, didnt help. I think it might be faulty HD but i don't know. The hard drive won't defragment completely it seems to stop at 17 percent, can this be the cause. I tried lowering resolution and settings in games but it doesn't help.

Is there any game like Mass Effect on the PS3 right now or any upcoming games?

MrFanboy
There are plenty of 3rd person shooters on PS3.

TC has had a personal vendetta against ME2 before its release. In every ME2 thread that popped up he always seemed to think everyone wanted to hear his rants. I think he sees himself as some kind of KotoR warrior, entrusted to defend the game against ME2. Revan hated the game before it came out so I didn't expect anything more after its release. It's his opinion, I just wish he would blog it, so maybe 2-3 people would read it, but I'm probablly assuming too much there.

Anyway, I'm 20 hours in, still far from finished & It's probably my favourite game this gen, an overall better experience then games like Fallout 3 & Oblivion. I loved the first (more then KotoR - Might not have been so deep, can't really say, I never finished it... The gameplay was poor, unlike ME, which is an overall better package) so obviously ME2 stomps all over KotoR in my opinion. I also like that it's original, & not a game made on someone elses imagination. The characters are awesome, combat is much improved, while not quite as good as Gears, but coupled with its story & RPG elements makes it a better experience, & I'm a massive Gears fan. My only complaint is that the text is very small for a SDTV, but I suppose I'm living in the past anyway. On a side note, the game looks amazing even on a SDTV.

Anyway, my opinion. I thought if Raven is going to rant his opinions all over system wars I might as well toss in mine as well.

[QUOTE="JangoWuzHere"][QUOTE="Revan_911"] I kind of failed to see the RPG elements. Games like Prototype or GTA SA feel more RPGish. No inventory, 2-4 powers and most of them are bullet mods, no stat system, about 10 items in the entire game. Sorry i like my RPGS with some dept in them.jasonharris48

Ok, so you want the boring and pointless stat system from the first Mass Effect??

I actually prefer ME1 level up system. But I do not understand Raven comparing ME2 to gears two completely different games from two completely different genres.

Well this game strives to be more of a shooter than an RPG, that much is clear. It fails in the RPG segment and as a shooter well it's not better than Gears or many other out there.
