PS3 never raised the bar. Not while PC gaming is alive and kicking.

Like an unwanted son in law in your house, this consoles are here to stay, holding gaming back and making games gradually more linear and more dumber.

Since this is SW might i say that STALKER COP visuals completely destroy anything on consoles.

Wow, im gone a day and my thread gets stickied!

*cue girlish giggling* :P

On topic - The devs have repeated over and over that the game is OPEN WORLD during the day where you are free to move around the world of bright falls freely. When you pick up story missions at night, they are semi linear in the manner of when you start a mission in GTA, to maintain story intensity. This doesnt mean the game will be linear as in Alone in the Dark, or Uncharted. The world will remain open without load times. You are still free (during the day) to explore for clues, talk to NPCs, and collect items.

Alan Wake is OPEN WORLD :D

Are you kiding me? It just shows Alan Wake arriving in Bright Falls via a boat. How is that proof that the game is an open world ?

Im so glad the PC version was cancelled. It's funny that herms feel that the PC version was cancelled due to the 360 'dumbing down' however it turns out the non open world idea came out much before the demise of the PC version. Now i get to play this game with a controller that works for 3rd person games, unlike a mouse and keyboard which although has higher accuracy, is a less intuitive than a controller. KB and M i used to love sooo much, but controller is more comfortable.

Why are you glad that millions of people won't get a chance to enjoy the game? What if it flops as an Xbox exclusive ? Looks like a rental to me. 8-10 hours, no multiplayer . PC games like these do well in Europe, and pretty much no one has a Xbox 360 here. And how does a controller work in third person better than a mouse (works better in beat em ups only)? Do you realize that Remedy who are making Alan Wake are a PC developer? They created Max Payne and Max Payne 2 on the PC first, and then Rockstar made the console ports. And another thing. Gears of War M&KB>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Gears of War Controller.

[QUOTE="Revan_911"][QUOTE="PAL360"]

Sounds more like GTA. Read again: "no loadings" :)

jg4xchamp

The No loading thing is an ancient FAQ answer regarding the PC version. Here's what Sam Lake says: The game was originally announced as having a large open world to explore. Is that still the case? We did try a more free-roaming approach at one point but decided that's not really the way we wanted to go. We want to deliver a good story and a good thriller and create the best possible rollercoaster ride through the game for the player. So the story is the means that guides the player through the game and through the game world. That being said, this path that the player is on is quite wide at times and all through the game there is a lot for the player to explore, but it's not a free-roaming sandbox. http://www.edge-online.com/features/interview-writing-alan-wake So it's not the best looking game, and it's not open world....

Which begs the question why does it matter that it isn't open world or the best looking game? Why make something that you honestly don't think is good or fits the kind of experience you are going for? The game looks good visually, and from alot of the hands on it apparently plays really well on top of that. Remedy also has a good track record of giving you a narrative worth following. I fail to see how this game has if anyway gone backwards. If anything this game looks like they sacrificed gimmicks and flash for a quality experience.

Being an open world doesn't make or break a game ....but look at the title of this thread.

Nothing revolutionary really. Mass Effect 2 - Dumbed down, less RPG ellements more shooter elements, clearly they were pushing for the GeoW and Halo crowd. Sam fisher doesn't look like Sam Fisher, i would rather have the old stealthy Sam than the new Rambo one. And Halo looks like Halo....

[QUOTE="Revan_911"] I played Mass Effect and Mass Effect 2 on the PC , it has nothing to do with the 360. And did you guys know.....Alan Wake rated teen http://kotaku.com/5467161/alan-wake-slated-for-may-18-looks-good Why would they do that. I just saw a guy getting axed in the gameplay video and it's rated teen? You can have mature story without gore, but common...opex07

Isn't your highest rated game (Sherlock Holmes vs. Jack the Ripper) rated Teen? Its seems like you have an irrational hatred towards the 360, and saying that I played a PC game isn't going to help change that view.

I said that a game doesn't need gore to be mature, but using quick cuts makes the game look like one of those PG-13 horror movies.

[QUOTE="Revan_911"][QUOTE="SilentlyMad"]He just goes after any 360 games. I do not care but just saying he can not be taken serious when he talks about anything 360.MC3887

It probably means little blood and little to no cursing. Not every game needs to be GEOW/GOW.

Yes, but that guy in the game play video got totally axed, and the camera just cuts to another shot . I think that's lame.
