I seriously doubt that the 360 fankids "worship" CliffyB....artur79

When you have constant posts on forums from people acting as if they are suddenly knowledgable of the entire PC industry because this one guy said an opinionated sentence that apparantly doesn't even reflect the mindset of the rest of his company...it leads one to think otherwise.

It's pretty obvious when "Cliffy B" made those statements, he wasn't reflecting the sentiments of Epic overall.....and this now simply solidifies that.

I'm sure if you asked Tim Sweeney, the guy who actually creates Epic's engines that make them famous, what he thought of the PC platform.....you'd get a very different response from the one Cliffy B gave.

And it's pretty much like Mark Rein said...Cliffy B isn't even really involved with the PC team, he's a console guy.
Cliffy B is a guy who was primarily a level designer on Epic's earlier games and whose name previously wasn't at the forefront of the company at all and whose name was little known outside of the UT map making community.....he then becomes lead designer on an extreme hyped and successful game that happened to release at the right time for a new console platform, and suddenly he became the celebrity poster boy for Xbox 360 fankids to worship.

But the fact is Cliffy B really doesn't pull the strings at Epic nor is he or was he ever representative of the overall mindset of Epic.

I will say this, you know someone's ego is getting big when of all people the opinionated Mark Rein who happens to be from the same company has to be the voice of reason to what Cliffy said.

If it follows the pattern of previous GTA games, they'll be an announcement shortly before the release of the console version, with the PC version releaseing 7 - 9 months after the Console version.

Maybe, but the latest installments of rockstars franchises didn't come to pc:
-bully
-liberty city stories
-vice city stories
-manhunt 2
R4gn4r0k

Bully and Manhant 2 weren't developed by Rockstar North......Bully was developed by Rockstar Vancouver and Manhunt 2 was developed by Rockstar Vienna & Rockstar London.

Some people make the mistake by thinking that "Rockstar" is all the same development company. There are actually completely different development studios in completely different locations.

Vice City stories and Liberty City stories were PSP ports, hence the reason they were only on PS2.....those games didn't go to Xbox or 360 either.

Explain to me why I should listen to any comments made by a man who claimed his previous release would be the "Greatest RPG of All time", only for it to end up being an overhyped and underperforming short game that even Gamespot labeled as the Biggest Disappoint for the year of it's release.

Also, when is the last time this guy actually developed a game for PC?

I find it funny that the guys whose game had an apathetic reception on the PC platform (like Cliffy B) or who haven't developed anything significant for the platform in years (like Molyneux) have been whining about how PC gaming is in "disarray" or "tragic".

Meanwhile, the developers whose games have garnered high priase from both reviews and gamers, developers like Valve, Crytek, Stardock, Maxis, and CD Projekt, have been saying that the PC platform allows them to do great things they can't do anywhere else and are happy with the success they've had on the platform.

Because of US....thats why.

I'm not even gonna say "gamers", but rather, the most Vocal members of the gaming community can literally put a damper on the perception of a game before it's released....especially when these vocal members feed on hype, and rather enjoying the games as they actually release, are always looking for the next best thing.......and of course there are those who are biased to a specific platform who are always looking for the next rumor or hyped announcement as some sort of notch in the belt to make their system look better or will attempt to put down a game on a competing platform before it's even out.

In terms of the general public, I think if a game's existence is announced too soon before it's release, and the gaming community can become apathetic waiting for it, especially as other "fresher" announcements are made.....words begin to get thrown around like "vaporware" etc.
This actually happened to HL2, which was officially announced just a year and a half before it's release (which compared to other games is a small amount of time between announcement and release), when compared to the wait of other games a year and a half has been nothing......the mistake Valve made is originally saying the game would release 6 months from the announcement, when it actually took 18 months after the announcement before it was in gamers hands.....of course lucky for Valve with the numerous awards and sales the game actually lived up to the hype, but there are other games that aren't so lucky.

Announce a game to close to release, and it might not have enough time to build attention and it could get lost in a sea of other announcements.

....then of course there is the factor of delays.

I personally prefer to see a game actually release at most a year after it's announcement....with just the basic information release...mainly, what the theme of the game is and what platform it's confirmed for, an in-game trailer or short demo to actually show gameplay, and a handful of screenshots to highlight the game.

Of course, some developers are also at fault for feeding into this.....such as with cutscene trailers claimed to be "in game", fake or doctored screenshots, and of course viral marketing.

More Single Player RPG games that aren't hybrids, but rather story and character driven RPGs that offer a lot of choice to the player.

Also, Space Combat Sim games.....think Freespace 2, Tie Fighter, Wing Commander, etc...I'd like to see that make a return.

More Tactical Shooter games that offer real tactical gameplay....think SWAT 3 and SWAT 4. or even the older Rainbow Six games.

Also, a true BattleMech game like the old Mechwarrior and Heavy Gear games.

"Next-Gen" - When referring to 360 and PS3 which have both been out since 2006, we are already in the second year since those systems have been released.

When you pause the game, you should see some little portaits which represent how many little sisters you rescued in the level, it'll look like this.

The portraits shows a little girl with a big daddy represent the number of little sisters in the level you still need to rescue, the portraits that just show a little girl represent the number of little sisters you've already rescued. Generally there are between two to three little sisters per level, but always check the pause screen to make sure.

The Little Sister isn't in one particular place, instead, all you have to do is follow a Big Daddy until he walks up to a hole and bangs on it and if there are any little sisters remaining on the level one should come out.

You can always also backtrack to previous areas to see if you rescued all the little sisters in the areas before, since you are still in Neptunes Bounty you are still early in the game, the only previous place before Neptunes Bounty that has little sisters was the Medical Pavilion....remember, you don't have to go searching to see if you rescued them, simply as soon as you enter a new level press the pause screen to see how many of the little picturettes at the bottom show just a little girl or a little girl with a big daddy. If all the picturettes show just a little girl, then you've rescued all the little sisters on that particular level.

- A follow-up RPG to Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines, developed by BioWare, Obsidian, or CD Projekt Red Studio.

- A third installment of Knights of the Old Republic, developed by BioWare that would properly conclude the single player trilogy.

- A follow-up, not necessarily a direct sequel, to Planescape Torment...developed by Obsidian & Chris Avellone.

- A sequel to CD Projekt Red Studio's The Witcher.

- A sequel to Fallout 1 & 2, with Obsidian or BioWare developing it.

- A Beyond Good & Evil Sequel helmed by Michel Ancel.

- A follow up to Half Life: Opposing Force that shows what happened to Adrian Shephard.

- A third installment in the No One Lives Forever series developed by Monolith.

- A third and final installment in the Freedom Force series, developed by 2K Australia.

Wait, weren't they already focused on Console titles?......Given the poor reception and general lack of interest in Epic's latest PC offerings, such as Gears of War PC and UT3, I'm not surprised.

Gears of War, the darling game of the 360 platform that its users couldn't stop talking about as if it were the best thing since sex, came to PC with exclusive content and a new updated engine....and was quickly forgotten in favor of other games. The lack of post release support and lame tacking on of GFW Live! to play multiplayer was also a death blow they should have seen coming.

UT3 is considered by many a step back in the series in terms of gameplay, especially when it's missing a couple of the most popular modes....which is backed up with a review average that is pretty much the lowest in the series in addition to the poorest sales reception.

I remember Epic talking about how UT3 would be more popular then Crysis since they claimed their game would be able to be played on more systems and look better on a variety of hardware......yet Crysis sold over a million copies in two months, even in U.S. retail it beat out UT3 in sales 3 to 1, I have yet to hear of UT3 being as successful....and again, Crysis was a new IP and the most hardware intensive game nor had the marketing that UT3 had. Thing about Crysis is at least Crytek has made efforts to continue to release updates and support the product.

Fact is, on PC, Epic is following the same route as Id Software....they are no longer the kings like they once were.
They no longer have the most cutting edge engine that pushes hardware....Crytek beat them in that aspect.
Source engine has them beat in terms of a engine that is scalable yet still manages to look fantastic and surprise....Source Engine going on 4 years old, yet still manages to look fresh in new ways as TF2 prooved.....UT3 is only a year and half old and already it's beginning to show it's age, especially on the PC platform.
Where the UT series was once the king of multiplayer shooters....TF2 was the more acclaimed multiplayer shooter last year on PC.
Most of all, Epic used to be known for their fantastic post release support and support from the mod community.....the post release support for Gears on PC has been a joke, and the mod community has basically ignored UT3....even Crysis has more promising looking mods coming out.

I remember a few years back when Id Software was making the same sort of statements Epic is now.....now Id Software is pretty much a has-been on the PC platform compared to the kings they once were.
Back in the late 90's and even as recently as 2002, when Id Software announced a new game and engine, PC gamers went nuts....yet this past year when they announced Rage and Tech 5, there was somewhat a feeling of apathy in the air, especially in comparison to other game announcements.

Fact is that Epic migrating to Console is a marriage better suited for both parties....since Epic's games don't seem to garner the same excitement on the PC platform as they once did, yet on Consoles they are the new celebrity stars.

What's funny is Cliffy B bags on games from Blizzard and Maxis, yet the reason why Blizzard and Maxis are so successful is because they are able to adapt to the changing circumstances of the PC platform....rather then whining about it....in addition, those two companies provide continued support and polish for their products on the platform.

Point is the PC platform is evolving into a new direction (and in case he hasn't noticed by the success of the Wii, so is console gaming) but like Id Software, Epic just didn't evolve with the times of the platform.

What he calls "disarray" I actually find an exciting time for the platform.....Spore looks to be the most innovating and interesting game arriving on any platform, even if it is a "Sims" like game. As far as I know, there is only one WoW series, and the reason that's so successful is because Blizzard made an excellent and polished product that they heavily support and update. And this is also a time when many niche independent developers are making some very fun and cool titles....even if they are just "click & play" as he put it.
