The arm falling off didn't really go with the wimpy strike he did at the wampa, it did look more like he would have grazed it rather than doing any major harm, and I feel Luke would have finished it off rather than leave it to die a slow death.
@adayinverse: Yes and the last Harry potter book has sold over 60 million in 10 years, So 150 million in 70 doesn't look quite as good, especially when Its likely over half of the 150 million sold was in the first decade, as it was number one in multiple countries and has been translated into 38 languages.
The point I was trying to make unsuccessfully was in the decade before the film most people weren't interested in Tolkien books, Its likely it was helped abit by the Audiobooks which were around at the time, but for most people it was very old and a very hard read, I remember at the time trying to convince some of my friends to read the Hobbit, and they gave up before finishing the first chapter and said it was too weird.
They read the lore and this is their interpretation, thats fine, when we read books the way we envision something can be very different to someone else, thats the beauty of books, a book is your interpretation, and I'm fine with theirs, for people who don't like the idea don't buy it, but just remember that the stories will only be told whilst people read and enjoy them, before the films came out hardly anyone bothered with Tolkien, it was a small minority group of people who found it when they were kids and hardly anyone else, Kids today wont bother with it, because most don't read when they have spare time, So if computer games or films aren't made which will be the Interpretation of the creators the stories will just be forgotten, which would be a bigger loss than giving a giant spider the ability to change into a human.
If Microsoft had released the Xbox one with BC then it might have made a difference to their sales, at the start of a gen when a system has few games BC would be great, but by the time Microsoft realized they needed something to boost sales it was too late, Sony had a large amount of exclusives appearing and Microsoft only had BC and a small number of exclusives and half of those they cancelled.
Best thing for Microsoft to do is take the lessons they have learned into next gen, BC from the start and none of the anti consumer stuff they tried to dump on everyone at the Xbox unveiling, and start pushing exclusives onto the system from day one, then they might get some of the fanbase they lost.
What they really mean is, We don't need to because we are winning the console war at the moment, If the switch was to beat the PS4 by the end of gen, the PS5 will likely be a hybrid as well.
I'm finished with Bethesda, steal other peoples work, make people pay for it, THEY are gonna have to put some real effort into their games in the future before I buy another one.
