Dreamcast games that should be released on the XBLA/PSN

The Dreamcast was generally said to be a good system, but in my opinion it was head of its time just a bit too late becaue the PS2 was released a year or so after the Dreamcast. At the time of its release, it was more advanced than any of the 5th generation consoles (it kicked off the 6th generation), and people were excited to get one becuase they wanted to play Sonic's first 3D adventure along with other titles. There are some titles that the majority of Dreamcast owners loved that still have yet to come to the XBLA and PSN.

Sonic Adventure 2

Sonic Adventure 2 Boxshot

The first Sonic Adventure came to the XBLA/PSN not too long ago, and the general consensus was, "It's good for a nostalgic hurrah, but that's it." In my humble opinion, the second one was superior to the first one, and it would actually be worth playing for more than just a nostalgic hurrah because it fixed most of the problems that the first one had, and it's a decent little platformer on its own right. Plus, I wouldn't mind buying it form the XBLA myself because my SA2B disc keeps having "DISC READ ERROR" problems. :|

Jet Grind Radio

Jet Grind Radio Boxshot

This is a game that looks like it has an extremely original and interesting concept. It has all sorts of crazy things: tagging, rollerblading, and so on. Given its originality, I actually think people would appreciate a re-release.

Skies of Arcadia

Skies of Arcadia Boxshot

It was generally said to be one of the best RPGs on the Dreamcast, and people appreciated the GameCube release so why wouldn't they appreciate an XBLA/PSN release as well?

Shenmue

Shenmue Boxshot

This game had an interesting take on the sandbox genre;it has mystery and RPG elements, and even has some concepts that are similar to concepts found in The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask (certain people being at certain places at certain times, etc.).

If there are any games that you think deserve to be on the XBLA/PSN that I missed, please feel free to name them.

The deal has been sealed...

Yep, that's right: the deal has been sealed. You know what I'm talking about, right? The deal? If you don't, then you obviously can't call yourself a gamer. Everyone should know about the the deal at this point. You must be hard-headed if you haven't heard about the deal.

Just kidding!

When I say the deal has been sealed, I mean that I am officially getting the Xbox 360. My parents and I went to GameStop today and bought the 250GB Kinect bundle. I'm going to have to wait until Christmas to play it, and I most certainly hope it will be worth the wait. I could care much less about the Kinect, however, I'm excited for the 360 because I want to download the Banjo Kazooie games from the XBLA and play Banjo Kazooie: Nuts and Bolts (for what it is, it actually doesn't look half-bad; I guess you just have to imagine that the characters aren't Banjo and Kazooie), Kameo, and other various titles. I think I might also get Sonic 06, simply because of morbid curiosity just to see how bad it is. :P

I've been playing Conker's Bad Fur Dayover the past couple weeks, and it's hilarious. It's a down-right guilty pleasure. I can't recall the last time I laughed that hard at a video game. The part that has been the funniest to me so far would have to be the part where you have to get the cows to drink prune juice (use your imagination as to why they would be drinking prune juice). "It's like the screaming s****, it is!" I beat the Great Mighty Poo. It's officially one of the best boss fights I've ever come across in a platformer.

I decided that I'm going to redo my top 10 GameCube games list. Looking back on that list, it's extremely lame; besides, I've been playing some other GameCube games like Metroid Prime that deserve a spot on that list that I had never played before making that list.

That's all I have to say for now.

Wow... I never expected this... (Xbox 360)

A few months ago, my family and I were looking at getting the PS3. Why? I wanted the Ratchet and Clank games and my brother wanted various shooters on the system. My family mostly wanted to get it for the PS Move (I could care less about it), but then my family heard about the Kinect, and they wanted that more than the PS Move because to them, the PS Move was just the Wii all over again, only with more precise and advanced technology and silly looking controllers. My family views the Kinect as an innovative piece of revolutionary technology, and while I could care less about it, I began to realize a few things.

I really don't have a lot of interest in getting the PS3 anymore. I mostly wanted it for the Ratchet and Clank games, but I tried Size Matters for the PSP, and it was pretty... boring. It was mildly fun at first, but after it was just kind of... bleh. I also wanted a PS3 for Heavy Rain, but after watching reviews and learning about its concepts and gameplay, it sounded so... boring. Somehow, I just don't find brushing other people's teeth, caring for other people's virtual children, and pushing a series of buttons to walk around to be very amusing... There were also some other titles that I was interested in, but after doing more research on them, I just kind of lost my interest in them.

Then I looked at the Xbox 360 to see if it had any games that actually interested me, and, suprisingly, it did. I found that a lot of games I wanted for the PS3 were also available for the 360, and there were some exclusives that sort of caught my interest. There were games such as Limbo, Kameo, Tales of Vesperia, and a few others that caught my interest. Plus,I can also get the Banjo Kazooie titles from the XBLA (which is very nice because a lot of games look a bit blurry on my N64, and ordering games from the internet is not something I like to do because it goes on my mom's credit card). Plus, it's also reverse compatiable with the original Xbox (most titles are anyway), which means I can play Psychonauts and a few other titles.

I never expected to be interested in theXbox 360, but somehow it caught my attention, along with the rest of my family. My brother wants it for Halo, and the rest of my family wants Kinect, so I'll most likely be getting the Xbox 360 at this point, but we'll just have to wait and see.

And do bear in mind that if I do get the 360, I won't turn into a 360 fanboy that calls Nintendo gay all the time. I love Nintendo and always will.

At last! The time has come! (Conker's Bad Fur Day)

Today, whilst I was cleaning my house, I asked my mother if she would let me play the M-rated Nintendo 64 games that my brother bought a long time ago. She asked why I wanted to play them, and I explained to her thatConker's Bad Fur Dayis supposed to be a funny game. I even told her about The Great Mighty Poo part, and she actually thought it was funny. She told me that it was okay for me to play it, and now I can't wait to play it. What am I still doing writing this blog??? I'm going to go play Conker's Bad Fur Day!!

And with that, I end this extremely short blog.

Games that give you the most bang for your buck

Games are expensive nowadays, and it can be hard to find a game that's actually worth shelling out $50+ for, so I've created this blog to give examples of games that actually give you your money's worth.

Compilations

Sonic's Ultimate Genesis Collection Boxshot

Sorry for stating the obvious here, but compilations really do give you your money's worth becuase of how many games are crammed into the compilations. Sonic's Ultimate Genesis Collection has over 40 Genesis titles, and you can buy it at a pretty reasonable price. They're also perfect for old-school junkies like myself if it's a compilation of old-school games.

Virtual Console Games

Super Mario Bros. 3 Boxshot

Because of the Virtual Console, you can experience all of the old-school goodness you missed out on the first time around for ridiculously cheap prices. If you have a Wii and have wi-fi, then get off your but and get yourself a$20 point card, and go buy some Virtual Console games. NES games are usually only $5, SNES games are usually only $8, andN64 gamesare usually only $10. Genesis games are generally priced a littlesteep, so that's why you just get the compilations if you're interested in those.

3DMario Platformers

Super Mario Galaxy 2 Boxshot

3DMario platformers have the most replay value of any games to date. If you want to complete the game thoroughly and get all 120+ stars, then you will be occupied for a long time. Although SMG and SMG2 cost $50, they're well-worth the price of admission because of their replay value. SM64 is on the VC now and Sunshine is cheap now, so they give you a lot more than your money's worth.

Action/Adventure Games

Okami BoxshotShadow of the Colossus BoxshotThe Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess Boxshot

Action/Adventure games are generally lengthy and sometimes compelling; therefore, they keep you entertained and busy for quite some time.

Portable RPGs

Shin Megami Tensei: Persona 3 Portable BoxshotPokemon HeartGold Version Boxshot

Portable games are generally cheaper anyway, but portable RPGs generally have the best value of portable games because they're lengthy, sometimes compelling, and sinfully addictive.

Super Smash Bros. Games

Super Smash Bros. Brawl Boxshot

SSBM and SSBB in particular give you your money's worth due to their endless replay value, and they never get boring. SSBB is still $50, but it's so replayable that it's well worth it.

PS2 Games

Final Fantasy X BoxshotRatchet & Clank Boxshot

Not only are PS2s reasonably priced nowadays, but the games for it are dirt cheap. You can get the majority of the PS2 games for under $5 if you get them from the internet, and that can get you a ton of games for $50.

Third Party Wii Games

Klonoa BoxshotZack & Wiki: Quest for Barbaros' Treasure Boxshot

Third party Wii games are generally quite a bit cheaper than regular Wii games, and they are generally said to be pretty good too.

That ends my little guide-thingy. I hope that some of you have found it to be sensible.

One-year Anniversary + Happy Halloween + Random Updates!

Happy Halloween everyone! I hope all of you are having a nice Halloween! Halloween is also my one-year anniversary on GameSpot. Exactly one year ago from today I made the decision to join this website because I wanted to write reviews and such. I originally stumbled upon GameSpot when I was looking up Sonic Wii games because I had been getting back into video games and I wanted to get back into Sonic. Because of Gamespot, I've discovered new games and franchises such as Ratchet and Clank, Okami, and so on.

Over the Halloween weekend I went to two Halloween parties, both of which were fun. The second one that I went to, which was on Saturday night, involved what is most likely my final year of trick-or-treating (where I live everyone trick-or-treated on the 30th due to the religious beliefs of the majority of the people). I didn't eat any candy (I gave it to my friends), but it was still fun going trick-or-treating one last time. After trick-or-treating, we watched The Haunting in Connecticut and it was hilarious because every time there was a scene that would pop out and scare you, everyone in the room screamed and yelped at the same time(myself included) and then laughed really hard after screaming. Even if we expected something to pop out and scare us, we still screamed. My friends got too scared, however, so we decided to watch funny stuff instead.

On a random note, I've been really addicted to Super Mario Galaxy 2, Okami, and Donkey Kong Country 2 lately. In fact, I spent most of my Friday (I didn't have school that day) playing those games. They are all excellent and extremely addictive.

That's all for now.

The stupidity of arguing over opinions (Console Wars)

There's something that really gets on my nerves whenever I read over discussions of various things, and that's the fact that people just can't live with another person's opinion.

The Console Wars

Yep, we're all familiar with the pointless flame wars that go on with this very subject. "gasp!!1 u own a wii ur a fanboy ur gay."

Honestly people, the console wars are getting really old. If you like a certain console, good for you, I respect that, but what I don't respect is when people start arguing over which is the best.

The consoles have certain games that interest different types of people, so it's only normal that they'd want those consoles. However, people just can't seem to respect that other people have opinions that differ from their own. People have the right to voice their opinion, and just because it doesn't match yours doesn't mean you need to throw a tantrum about it. Most of us should be mature enough to handle the fact that people have differing opinions, but sadly a lot of us are not.

Here is an example of a flame war relating to the console wars, and it's not even exaggerated either (that's the sad part):

"I think the Wii is the best because it's innovative and has variety."

"Screw you! The 360 is way better cuz it has the best online play and HD graphics! You're gay for liking the Wii you f****** Nintendo fanboy!"

"F*** you! The PS3 is the best because it has FREE online play, lots of variety, and HD graphics! Crapbox 360 sucks! You're all f****** noobs!"

"No no no no no no no! You have it all wrong! PC is the best because the prices are cheaper and the point-and-click set-up is the best. You're all noobz!!"

Now, you see, generally the flame war comments are written with poor grammar, thus making the flamers/trolls look even more stupid than they already look, but that's beside the point.

Comparing the consoles is like comparing apples and oranges. Sure they fall under the same category, but they're so different in terms of what they contain. Each console caters to certain genres, so you can expect that the experiences on the consoles will vary.

The most aggravating about the console wars, however, is the fact that the flamers/trolls somehow think they can change the opinions of others by foolishly arguing their point and calling the other user immature names (noob, gay etc.). You can't change what someone likes. Calling them names won't change their opinion. If they have an opinion, let it be. You're only wasting your time by tell them that they're wrong because you think your opinion is better. No one's going to change their opinion just because of someone immaturely calling them names over the internet.

The bottom line: like what you want to like. If someone else has an opinion that differs from yours, respect it, and/or let it be and don't waste your time trying to change their opinion because you can't change someone else's opinion about something they like. This world doesn't work that way, and it never will. The same thing applies to opinions of movies, books, games, etc. Get used to it.

I personally think Morgan Webb needs to do a 7th-gen update of this, just for fun.

Answers + A tough decision

For my first "ask me" blog, I'd say it was pretty... disastrous... I'm never going to do one ever again unless I have a lot more people that comment on my blog... But I appreciate those who asked questions. Anyways here's the answers:

King-And-Knight

What is your favourite animated movies? Either Spirited Away or Princess Mononoke.
What is your favourite Game? Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door.
What is your favourite Fighting movies? Does Karated Kid count? :P

BlazikenTails64

cats or dogs? Definitely dogs-- cats are evil!

cake or pie? Probably cake, but I like pie a lot as well.

What would you choose: Skydiving while trying to hold a dolphin( alive in a tank) for $1000, or licking envelopes for a year for $1000? I would rather lick envelopes, I'm too scared of heights to do skydiving (especially when holding a dolphin).

Do you like wafffles? Yes, quite a bit, along with pancakes and french toast (song reference).

Do you liek mudkipz? Yes, but I personally prefer Torchick (is that how you spell it?).

personeyperson

Do you like pickles? Yes, actually.

Why are pickles smaller than cucumbers? I believe it's because pickles are litterally pickled cucumbers.

Which would you rather eat: a cake-flavored pickle or pickle-flavored cake? Cake-flavored pickle, a pickle-flavored cake would be... kind of gross...

smm217

What's your favorite videogame series from Nintendo? I have a few: Zelda, Mario, and Super Smash Bros.

What's your favorite color? I always tend to change what my favorite color is, but I'd have to say orange is my favorite color at the moment.

What's the scariest movie you ever watched? Probably Drag Me to Hell. I will never look at gypsies the same way again.

IslandBros15

Mario or Sonic? That's actually a tough question. It depends on the era. I'd have to say I like retro Sonic games a lot more than retro Mario games, but I like Mario's newer games more than Sonic's, so it's a tie.

Best Wii Game? Most people will tell you that the best Wii game isSuper Mario Galaxy 2 but I personally think New Super Mario Bros. Wiiis the best Wii game. I've played at my friend's house a few time and I've had a lot of fun with it.

Worst Wii Game? Sonic and the Black Knight.

Favorite Retro Console? The only old-ish consoles I've ever owned are the Sega Genesis and the N64, and while I did enjoy those systems, I would have to say the Super NES. I've never actually played one (though I have played an NES a few times), but I've played some of the Virtual Console ports and I have enjoyed them quite a bit.

Favorite console in general? None: I like all of the consoles for different reasons.

Well there you have it. I actually enjoyed answering questions.

As the second part of this blog, I have a tough gaming decision to make that I'd like you guys to help me with. For Christmas this year, I can get either a bunch of Wii and DS games, or a PS2 with a bunch of games for that. For the Wii games I'd want Kirby's Epic Yarn, Donkey Kong Country Returns, and so on; for the DS, I'd want The World Ends WithYou, Chrono Trigger, Prefessor Layton, and Sonic Rush Adventure. As for thePS2 I'd want to get Ratchet and Clank, Jak,Klonoa 2, and Dark Cloud. What should I choose? I can't decide...

Ask me questions

A lot of people have been doing a question blog lately, so I decided to do one as well.

I want everyone to ask at least three questions, but no more than five. Don't ask anything too personal. I'll answer your questions in the comments.

Ask away.

(Shortest blog ever...)

EDIT: I changed my mind, I'll answer the questions in my next blog.

Ratchet and Clank, eh?

I went to Game Stop today and picked up a copy of Ratchet and Clank: Size Matters for the PSP for only $7, and it's my first time playing a Ratchet and Clank game, and it's my first PSP purchase (it's not my first PSP game, however; Valkyrie Profile Lenneth was the first PSP game that I ever played). I would've ratherbought the PS2 or PS3 entries, but seeing how I don't own either of them I decided to pick up Size Matters.

It's kind of fun so far I guess, I mean you get to shoot and explode things without any consequences; how many platformers let you do that? The answer: hardly any. It's actually kind of fun shootingand blowing things up. I guess you could say that it's well worth the $7. I haven't gotten too far into it yet, but so far it's pretty fun. I'll definitely want to look into getting the Ratchet and Clank games for the PS3, and possibly for the PS2 (if I can ever get a PS2 again).

I might look into getting Secret Agent Clank, but that will all depend on if I end up liking the series or not.Besides, I decided that Size Matters will be my final game purchase of this year and I'll have to wait until my birthday and Christmas before getting anymore games. I'm trying to save up money at this point.

On a side note, it looks like I won't have a life at all this winter. I didn't enjoy swimming all that much so I'm not doing that anymore, and I wouldn't have made the team anyway (I enjoyed conditioning but try-outs were horrendous). It looks like I'll have to wait until the spring before I do any other sports. Not doing any sports throughout the fall and winter means I'll have more free time, but it also means I'll be doing practically doing nothing... but oh well.
