The saddest part is, Resistance 2 sold 400k in its first month in the U.S.

What went wrong?

Modern Warfare 3 on the PS3 will demolish that number.

And people say CoD sells better on the 360 because the PS3 owners have more shooters to choose from...

Look at this game's sales. A PS3 exclusive.

Another sign that CoD is the only franchise that sells on the PS3, period.

PS3 gamers = COD gamers.

funsohng

I don't have CoD on my PS3.

Yes, you have CoD on your PS3.

Huh? :|

I'm no cow, but GT5 sold about 7 million, MGS4 sold about 5.5 million, and ND said Uncharted 2 sold 4.9 million a while ago.

Hell, even FFXIII sold almost 5 million copies on the PS3 alone.

I meant out of the shooter franchises.

What kind of "record" does Dark Souls possess?

I'm positive Skyrim will destroy Dark Souls by a wide margin.

I don't play RPGs, and even I know that TES is the king of the genre.

Dark Souls fanboys need to calm down and await the monster that comes in November.

CoD sells the most because its the most casual easy to play FPS around.

A 5 can play it and do well. Somebody who hasnt played a game before can play it and do well.

It's the starting block for new gamers (and 8-15 year olds) and that who it is marketed to, young teens.

BiscuitCruiser

No, it doesn't sell because it's easy. That's laughable. A lot of games are easy to get into, yet never see sales even close to CoD.

CoD sells because of one thing, and one thing only: it's fun to play.

That is the theme of any CoD game. IW doesn't give a crap about graphics. As long as they make a game that many people will enjoy (a keyword, it does not exist in the BF franchise), they're happy.

Battlefield 3, for your information, is aimed at the casual crowd, as well.

All games are fun to play. Whats your point?

Also when did i mention BF3? I hate CoD and i don't like BF.

No, all games aren't fun to play. That's like saying all movies are fun to watch.

You said CoD is marketed to young teens. Same could be said about BF3.

Laughable. Black Ops sold what, 24 mil? That's not close to 30, and neither are the others since Blops has the highest amount. Bad Company 2, sold over 9 million on all three platforms. Not as much as CoD, but it doesn't have the casual crowd and EA didn't have to pay off reviewers to score the game high, but Activision did with the free vacations.

Symbol for casuals maybe, who are their main audience.

BiscuitCruiser

Yup, it did around that number, which is far more than any other FPS game.

That's why it sells close to 30 million copies with each instalment, whereas BF barely sells over 2 million outside the PC platform, I guess.

It's fine if you don't like CoD (nobody here does), but you can't deny it's the symbol of gaming for many gamers today.

BF3 is a game you play for 4 hours then never touch again. It's nothing like Call of Duty...

ChubbyGuy40

You're right...Call of Duty you never touch at all.
