I recently just started college, and I can't take the PS3 because my brother is still at home. I wanted to buy my own PS3. At home we have a 60GB one from almost a year after launch. I'm saving up money, and I have about $450 right now with a steady income of about $50 a week (five and a half hours minimum a week at 9.25 an hour). I'm trying to decide whether I should go hunt for an 80GB MGS Bundle or buy a refurbished 60GB from the gamestop website. Any suggestions?

Normally that extra space taken up is for the OS and other critical programs that you can't (and shouldn't) get rid of.

If you copy the songs to your PS3's harddrive from your IPOD, then most of the songs titles will be copied correctly, but I have a folder of about 50 songs that didn't copy over with the correct title. So even though all of your songs have odd title names when you view your Ipod from yoru PS3, the titles will display correctly when you copy them to your PS3. It will even arrange them by Album.

StreamMyGame just released its plug-in for YDL and Ubuntu. I figure I should now try the Linux on my PS3, but I'm not sure which one. I heard YDL has had wi-fi problems since 2.00 (PS3 firmware). I was thinking about going with Ubuntu, but i'm not sure. I also wanted to ask if it was possible to go with one OS and if i dont' like it, go with the other.

After three weeks, i decided to try one of my PS2 games online with my PS3. I inserted Ratchet and Clank: Up Your Arsenal into the PS3. While loading up the game, the PS3 was making some strange (or at least to me beacuse i've only played the blu-ray movies i got for free with it) noises. While setting up the networking, it made noises like it was scratching the disk. After trying a game online, i took ou tth edisk and checked the underside. Since i didn't know what the underside looked before, i really can't say if there was a difference. It was scratched up, but I had gone for like four months straight just playing that game a few months ago (Don't ask me why). Should i be worried about those noises, or are those normal?

As long as the developers of Tenkaichi 3 did not stray from Sony's recommended game specs, the 60 GB version should have no problem playing the game, but there's always that chance that newer games will stray slightly due to attempts to get more out of the PS2. If you are trying to figure out which one to get, go for the 60 GB if you are concerned with backwards-compatability. If you aren't too concerned and are content with software emulation, the 80 GB is definetly the way to go. (I got a 60 GB just because i needed something to play my PS2 games well when i go to college.)

That's interesting. Will later versions have access to more RAM?

I was wondering what the advantages of having Linux on your PS3 were. I was considering it, but I wasn't quite sure what you could do with it. There's already a web browser, what else could Linux on your PS3 offer?

The Online experience will be greatly enhanced when Home is launched in, I think, February. That will bring the PSN up several levels, and it could possibly surpass Xbox live in functionability.
