[QUOTE="Agent_13"]Oblivion's storyline was actually pretty decent compared to most fantasy RPG's storylines.onemic

What fantasy RPG's have you been playing recently? The storyline was pretty much non-existent and was devoid of any real connection to the characters of the game. In fact, the whole game is like that.

Don't forget about the cookie-cutter characters and their handful of repetitive, poorly-voiced lines.

Pacman was prety good story wise, but gameplay and graphics are lacking.navyseal2101

I'm not so sure.I think Pong had better character development.

At $10, maybe. At $20, no way. You can finish the game in under 15 hours with ease.

I tried Morrowind. It didn't hold me over for more than a few days. Why should I waste money on Oblivion. I see no reason to it's the same thing with shinier graphics and a new story. Perhaps the combat is a bit better. Besides that I hear the world levels as you level. I find that design decision retarded. =(Unstoppable_1

If you didn't like Morrowind that much, you can safely skip Oblivion, which is a prettier, simplified, and more action-oriented (click, click, click) version of MW with an even skimpier dialogue and story (voiced yes, but by no more than 5 actors, minus Patty Cakes).

[QUOTE="BrandXSavior"]All time favorite developer; Origin. The Ultima CRPGs were my favorites (Ultima VII still being my all time favorite RPG). It's a shame that EA killed off the studio, but companies like Bethesda and Piranha Bytes have taken up and continued the western/European style RPG mantel very nicely.Avitu666

Amen to that. Glad to see someone with good taste here!

Another vote for Origin.

I have to disagree about Bethesda though... they were never really that great in my book. Daggerfall was the high point and now they're just sellouts.

Yup, most people are really novel thinkers. You could get a wider range of topics from a parrot.

They might as well be saying:

Rate my penis.

Can my POS run this, cuz I'm too lazy to pick up a basic understanding of computer components.

What's the best _______? I'm right, you're wrong. I hate you because your opinion differs from mine.

People don't need brains anymore. Just slap bumperstickers on their foreheads.

Obviously, everyone has a different view of what the 'best' is. Completely subjective.

Favorite is a better way to phrase it.

The 'Golden Age' started around 1995/1996 and ended around 2000/2001.

Fallout, PS:T, Baldur's Gate, Jagged Alliance, Deus Ex, etc. At least it was great for RPGs and strategy. These days everything has been dumbed-down to the drool-point for the console masses; pretty, but dumb as sh*t.

Crysis and Bioshock are obviously about graphics as well, but I'm hopeful that they'll have some other things going for them (maybe).

Oblivion is a perfect example of how fast a series can fall into stupidification once it goes console, although I was never of huge fan of TES to begin with.
