Ok to let all my loyal GS readers know (I don't even know if I have any but it sounds cool to say that :P). This could be my last blog for a while-if not ever- I will explain (some of the reasons) to why this could be my last blog for a while-if not ever- throughout the blog as well as at the end of the blog. Therefore this blog will probably be the longest blog you've seen or read from me. You're more than welcome to stop reading or to skip sections at anytime you want... ;)
The title of this blog is a pretty cool tagline from the upcoming film Twilight based on the New York Times bestselling novel by Stephenie Meyer with the same title. I recently finished reading the novel and I must admit that I liked it. I was very apprehensive at first because I suspected that I wasn't going to be able to get through the novel. To my surprise I was drawn as I read each line of the novel. If you're a dude and have a slight clue what the novel is about, you may be asking yourself what's wrong with me. Allow me to tell you that nothing is wrong with me :D. I just appreciate good writing; there are plenty of books that I've read where the writing wasn't nearly as good as Stephenie Meyer's. It was easy to be hooked to each chapter, the characters are very interesting and the story itself is pretty cool. There is tons of romance, which I would agree would disinterest a majority of dudes (and I see why girls love the series of novels). I understand that (some) dudes don't like to consider themselves as romantic because it could tarnish their image as the "alpha male". Well, I'm not one of those dudes, although I don't consider myself to be romantic, I'm more open to sensible feelings than most dudes I know. Does that tarnish my image as an "alpha male"? I don't think so. Anyways, this section of my blog isn't supposed to be an argument about whether or not dudes should be open to novels like Twilight (or to sensible feelings for that matter); we all have our opinions and options. This section is more about recognizing a well written novel :). I was very indifferent to reading the novel. I remember horseyjesse getting really excited about the Twilight trailer, so I asked her what it was all about. One night I came across a teaser for the movie. The teaser was about a fighting scene full of action. The concept of vampires battling each other is what caught my attention :o. I still wasn't interested on reading the novel; I was willing to watch the movie though. Horseyjesse suggested that I should read the book before I saw the film. At first, even I thought I wasn't going to be able to read it :?. I decided to give it a try since I was looking for something to read. To my surprise I ended up liking it :D. I feel that if you're a dude and you like well written books, you'll get over all the romance throughout the novel. So if you're looking for something interesting and different to read, I recommend Twilight.
Today my quest for CPA supremacy got under way :). For those of you who don't know, I'm going to be a fourth year college student double majoring in economics and accounting with emphasis in economic research and development and managerial accounting :D. My ultimate goal is to become a business development executive in the video game industry. If I had it my way, I would love to work for Microsoft since Xbox is my console of preference, but I wouldn't mind to work for anyone else ;). As a matter of fact, I will have an interview with Take 2 Interactive's Rockstar for an intern position. I love the economic aspect of the video game industry! It's awesome. If I don't get to become a business development executive though, I will try to attempt to become an accountant. I just finished working as an intern at an accounting firm and I learned so much and I became very interested in the field. Although working in the video game industry is what I really want to do, I could see myself being an accountant as well (I got to have a plan B if plan A isn't successful after all). I don't start my regular school year until late September (my b-day month as well :)), but today was my first day of a prep course I'm taking with the intention of taking my CPA exam. The course is going to be really interesting in spite of my familiarity with the material we're covering. I can't take the exam until the Spring, since I have to have a certain number of upper division accounting courses (which I will have by Spring) I felt that preparing for the exam earlier wouldn't hurt though ;). The only down side of this is that my gaming time will be limited :(.
Since I finished my internship at the accounting firm I had to get a job. I was lucky enough to be hired at a Credit Union fairly close to my school. I really like working there :). I get to interact with really cool people as well as with interesting people. I worked at a financial institution for two years before getting my internship at the accounting firm, so I was prepared for the fun (and sometimes not so fun) ride from the rollercoaster that working at a financial institution is. Most co-workers are pretty cool, there a few exceptions but I won't dwell on that in this blog. One of the reasons that this could be my last blog for a while-if not ever- is because the board of directors at my work wants to enforce a policy that will prohibit employees to be associated with social networks (Facebook, Gamespot, Myspace, etc...). The policy is supposed to protect the image of the institution. Although there is some legality that the policy has to address, the board of directors is known to be successful at enacting policies. In addition, I'm probably the youngest employee the company has, thus there's not much opposition from the other employees (although I hope there is enough to stop them from enacting the policy). I somewhat understand the policy, although I don't fully agree with the policy. As a matter of fact, I'm blogging about my company right now. Even though I'm not belittling the company (and I'm not even mentioning its name nor will I mention it either) I am disclosing publicly my discontent with the policy, hence I'm somewhat affecting the image of the company (remember though that I'm not mentioning nor will I mention its name). The board of directors wants to be able to just avoid this altogether. I would strongly oppose to the policy, but I love to work at that place too much to taint my image with the company. I know that sounds very cowardly from me since I'm not going to be standing out for my rights and all, but I don't need that extra stress . Once school starts, I'll have plenty to worry about (in addition I have some personal quarrels that I have to deal with as it is). I just hope that they don't enact the policy and I'm able to keep my social networking going, its fun!
In my last blog I asked some of my readers to help me out in choosing some games for my X360. It was very helpful as I've narrow my decisions, thanks :). A dilemma occurred today as I was trying to figure some things out. I may have to take a hiatus from gaming :(. I really don't want to as I'm having tons of fun, and I seem to find a very cool escape from my everyday stress (which isn't much but enough to seek an escape). Also, I'm afraid I'm going to fall so behind that I will suck at gaming (not that I'm a great gamer now, decent perhaps ;)). I just don't seem to make things work out. Last time I opened up a blog with a rhetorical question about the pieces fitting together and then watching them all crumble down, I'm starting to believe in that concept :?. Complications arise from left and right. I really don't want to. At least my little bro will benefit if I got through with the hiatus. I did this before, where I left gaming and then came back. I don't want to have to do it again. I love my X360!! I love to play FPS and TPS, I love playing sport games, fighting games, even RPG's! I got tons of figuring out to do.
Well I really hope this is not my last blog for a while-if not ever- and as I mentioned throughout the blog, some of the reasons why this could be my last blog for a while-if not ever- would include the policy the board of directors want to enact at my work, the hiatus that I may be taking from gaming, and there is some other personal reasons that would make no sense to anyone if I listed them. Ultimately, I really hope to be back sooner than later. I've really enjoyed my time here at GS and I want to keep enjoying my time :D. Thanks to horseyjesse for introducing me to this pretty cool community :D. Feel free to comment if you want. I will still be checking GS in the next few days and I will also comment on your blogs while I still can...if after that you seem to notice my absence, then at least you know why. I guess at that point, you can clean me out of your friends list (that's provided that I do leave for good). If I'm back I expect you to re-track me. Have fun Gamespotters! And thanks for reading :) !!!!
