New Super Mario Bros. 2 (3DS)

I'll start off by saying this:

I am not too excited about this game. Don't get me wrong, I am still anticipating this title, and I may even get it opening day, but I won't be over the moon waiting for this game. One reason I was excited for Mario 3D Land is that it was a full length 3D Mario game. No telling what was going to go down. Well, for the most part. :P Let's turn the clock back.

- New Super Mario Bros. (DS) was Mario's first true 2D platformer since Super Mario World, a game released over a decade ago. Lush graphics, tight controls, great level design, you know the drill. New Super Mario Bros. wasn't all that innovative, but it was a fun return to form.

- New Super Mario Bros. Wii - Well, this is another 2D Mario platformer. Nintendo added a great four player option, and that really shook the game up. However, as fun as the game was, as I was playing through the game in single-player mode, I got that nagging feeling that this was the same game I had been playing for the past 20 years. The lack of innovation was really beginning to show.

- The bottom line is, I really hope Nintendo changes up, well, something, with this new title in the series. Oh , and one more thing, I want more than 9 worlds and I want the game to be really difficult. New Super Mario Bros.(DS) and New Super Mario Bros. Wii were cakewalks.

DRAGON BALL Z

-- Dragon Ball Z: Ultimate Tenkaichi

-- Dragon Ball Z is one of the greatest television series I had ever watched. The drama, the characters, the punching. Needless to say, there are countless fighting titles based on the series now days. The only Dragon Ball Z fighting games I have ever played are Budokai Tenkaichi 2 and Budokai Tenkaichi 3. They were both some of the greatest full 3D fighting games ever created, it's a shame people ignored it as just another generic crappy 'Anime-Fighting Game'. But that's not on the menu.

-- So I got Ultimate Tenkaichi for the PS3. It TRULY IS the Dragon Ball Z game that captures the feeling of the series most; it is intensely cinematic. The game will slow down and turn black and white when their fists slowly close in on each other, huge blasts will trigger adrenaline pumping 30 second scenes, etc, etc. And that's Ultimate Tenkaichi's biggest flaw. It's too cinematic for it's own good. Seeing a cool 30 second scene is cool at first, but sickeningly monotonous after you see it 50 times. The action keeps pausing when you are to close to your opponent, readying you for a rock-paper-scissors punching duel. That brings me to our second massive flaw. Close combat punching is handled via a random chance 'pick A or B!' sort of thing. So forget getting good at the game, some 5 year old kid will beat you into a plup if you get unlucky.

-- The 'making your own character' feature is stripped-down, the story mode is bare bones, but at least the online play is relatively lag-free. The graphics are nice, if not a touch bland.

-- All in all, I would not recommend this game to anyone, unless he was ABSOLUTELY a hardcore Dragon Ball Z fan.

Score: 6.5 out of 10.

Thumb up or thumb down my review, please.

Don't you want to know which game I got?

Like a boss

-- FALLOUT 3

-- Lots of people told me to get Fallout 3, but believe it or not, there was a last-minute discovery that made me decide to get Fallout 3. Deth-Angel said and dah Dono hinted that the $20 GOTY version was bugged up the ass. After checking around, I found out that 85% of consumers said that the PS3 GOTY Edition should be avoided. So, I checked out the price of the regular version at Gamestop and it was $7. Being the cheap ass gamer that I am (anyone remember that website?), I could not resist.

-- Great game so far (I have only played for 3 hours), but hard as hell. I escaped vault 101, but once outside, I kept breaking my arms or legs, my guns jammed on me, and the radiation was really getting to me. But I finally get to MegaTon, and that BASTARD Colin wants me to pay 300 caps to find out where my father is?! That's insane, I barely have enough to heal myself! Am I supposed to sell everything I own?!

--But, great game. I'm also really enjoying the online multiplayer on Mario Kart 7.

Friends, I need some advice.

$20.

THREE GAMES.

ONE DECISION.

--- That sums it up. There are three games I want right now, and they are all 20 bucks. Which game should I get?

--Game 1-- The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion -- A few months ago, I feel in love with the series. Skyrim was a game I didn't know I wanted. I didn't know I wanted to be completely immersed in a magical fantasy world for hundreds of hours. I didn't know I wanted to be moved by Jeremy Souls's beautiful soundtrack. If Oblivion is half as good as Skyrim, it will be worth the $20. It should also be noted that it is the Game of the Year Edition. However, I'm still obsessed with Skyrim, so if I get it, I will probably stick it away somewhere until I'm finally through with Skyrim.

--Game 2-- Fallout 3 -- As I said, I am now a big Bethesda fan. I really want to see if this open-world game is another fantastic entry in the genre. Also the Game of the Year Edition, also $20.

--Game 3-- Mass Effect 2 -- It's like Star Wars. And it's an RPG. What could go wrong? Ikizo repeatedly tells me to get it.. But I own a PS3, so should I start with 2? Also $20.

-What game do you think I should get?

THIS is what you call a hidden gem in gaming.

Rhythm Heaven Fever for the Nintendo Wii, released in January, 2012. (No motion controls!)

-Yes, this is a rhythm game, and shockingly, it's not terrible. This is c*la$$ic Nintendo fare, only two buttons to use for the entire game,''A and A+B''. However, this game is far from simple casual fare, with the game getting crushingly difficult in many sections.

- The gameplay in Fever is you tapping buttons to the beat, simple as that. You pick a song and a cinematic plays out on the screen, aiding to with your timing. However, explaining it to you wouldn't be the best course of action, so feast those two things above your nose.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jyZbt5obvQg - Here is one random song that reeks epicness.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gWy1utqHD0s&feature=relmfu Random one.

-With those bits of gameplay footage, you probably understand what the game is like. It's got outstanding replay value, getting perfects is VERY strenuous. Needless to say, it great a pretty good soundtrack. The sad thing is though, this game flew under 70% of gamers rader, because it's a music game for the Wii game.

-So, what do you think? Do you already own this game, or is this the first time you've ever heard of the game?

I'm a ..... reverse PC gamer?!

-- Many PC gamers started gaming with consoles, and eventually migrated the the land of PCs.

-- I'm sure I've already told you that I started my gaming hobby with Super Mario Bros. for the NES. I got my NES when I was around 7-ish, and my SNES and PS1 later that year. Those were the main consoles of my childhood. However, I did play the occasional PC game back in the day, but I migrated to consoles before I really got into PC gaming. One PC game I played when I was young was a game about some frog, the game had PS1 graphics, it was really old. It also had a great soundtrack. But I can't remember what games I played years and years ago; I don't even remember the names of them, they've been lost and gone for, well, years and years.

- One PC game I REALLY vaguely remember was, well, maybe you could help me out. It had PS1 graphics, it had to be made in the late 90s. It took place in an Arctic wasteland. I only had a single gun with limited ammo. I remember leaving a submarine, just walking. I would walk for a half hour before coming across ANYTHING that wasn't glaciers and ice. Sometimes a strange furry human-like monster would appear out of nowhere... and kill me. I barely ever killed one. That's really all I remember.

- Today, I hardly EVER EVER EVER play a game on my computer. I'm not even sure if it's outdated or anything; I'm not that good with PCs.

One more thing! I got ASSASSIN'S CREED: BROTHERHOOD. Expect a blog.

The Disco Master. The Bass Blaster. The Audio Disaster.

--I am actually a Disco Robot who lives in the Agorian Battleplex in a far away galaxy. I am in charge of a popular radio station. I spend my free time playing the arcade hit 'My Blaster Runs Hot'. I love to sell legal things to illegal people. I also enjoy moonlit strolls on the beach. However, I dislike when someone puts a blaster in my face and screams, ''PUT THE MONEY IN THE BAG!'', because I find it rude.

Happeh April Fools Day, brahs.

(I finally got the Trophy called: ''My Blaster Runs Really, Really Hot'' in Ratchet And Clank: A Crack in Time)

What kind of music do you listen to?

When asked what ones true nature is, music to the gateway to ones soul. ......(O.O)

-Someone once asked what music I listen to. If bearing your soul is more powerful than telling, than shan't we all strive for that? (Sorry, I had to read Macbeth for a school assignment.)

-You may notice that these songs all into the same category. It is a genre that I enjoy listening to, due to the fact that I used to listen to such CDs when I was younger. Now we have youtube. :P

-But enough about me, what songs do you like to listen to?

Went to the 'Art Of Video Games' exhibit at the Smithsonian.

I'll make this blog short and sweet. The Smithsonian Art Museum in Washington D.C. has recently opened up a exhibit all about video games. Mario, Sonic, Zelda, and Metal Gear were just a few of the iconic series displayed there.

Konami

Above is Metal Gear Solid 4's cast of enemy bosses.

Above is a few people playing Super Mario Bros. on a rather large screen TV.

Sonic

That's all I'll show you; there was much more there. It was great fun and I would suggest you make the trip there, if you live near Washington D.C.
