What was the first game (PC, Nintendo, Sega, PS, Xbox) you've played ever in your whole life?

How old is the oldest person you know (you included) who still plays video games?

makukiko

The first game I ever played was Duck Hunter for the SNES. I loved that game, it was so addicting.

The oldest person I know who still plays video games is my uncle who is 41

I hope it will, I'm planning on buying it. The concept looks really cool, going through all those stages of civilization. But I'm worried that they will not put enough effort into each stage of they game. What I mean is, when you go through each stage of life, from a small organism to a small tribe to a city and so on... Because it looks pretty and I want the gameplay to be deep, not just "look good". But I guess we'll just have to wait and see.

I would point and laugh if anyone actually bought that game.

I'm mostly a strategy gamer myself but i do play some action games. Here are some suggestions:

Medieval 2:Total War (turn based/real time battles)

Hellgate: London (action/adventure/MMO)

Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare (FPS)

Play some demos and see what you like

I love the Total War series so much. My most memorable battle was in Rome: Total War inside a walled City of mine. An army of about 2000 Germans were at my door. I only had a small garrison of about 700 including my 7 star general (good thing too!). One third of my army was spearmen and two thirds were archers. I knew if I put my archers on the walls they would cut down a good chunk of the German army, but not enough before they could get up my walls and slaughter them. So, I decided it better to let them break the gates and come inside. I managed to funnel them down into one street and put my spearmen in 3 ranks in front of the square with all my archers behind. While my infantry stood their ground and held the enemy in place, my archers continually pummeled them with arrows. I killed around 1500 of them before they routed and only lost about half my infantry.

That was a good day.

Ya, games now a days are geared towards skimishes and rushes. But the Total War Series is a good example of turtling, Especially Rome and Medieval 2. Also try to get your hands on Settlers 4 or Heros of Might and Magic, which I hear is pritty good.

I know its been said already, but Command & Conquer 3 and Age of Empires 2 + 3 are really good examples.

For some faster paced action try Supreme Commander. You can turtle like crazy in that game, and just bust out with 500 units and totally destroy your enemy. Oh, good times...

I really enjoyed Mafia. And Rome: Total War was refreshing and original. Oblivion is also awesome, butIguessit`snotforeveryone. Aashammer

I have to agree with Rome:Total War. Together, it reallymade turn-based and real-time strategy gaming what I always wanted it to be.

I would add Superme Commander, Call of Duty series, Starcraft, Sims 2 and Civilization 4 up there as well

Upgrading your system might be a good idea. Most games made this year are goin to need a decent processor (duel core or higher) to run well. 2 gigs of RAM is a good idea, especially if you run Vista. Do some shopping around for the best price. I'd try NCIX.COM, thats where I usually go.
