You know what happens when a game doesn't sell well and it is critically acclaimed? It becomes a collector's item, and it appreciates in value greatly. Just look at Earthbound, it didn't sell all that well and it was critically acclaimed. Now the game sells for $200-$300 dollars.

As a game collector, I actually like buying critically acclaimed games that don't sell very well because they are good to hold on to.

This makes no sense, Earthbound had limited copies, Sony spams out large quantities of games to buy which is one of the many reasons why they don;t like games not selling.

Lol, games are pressed/printed in waves. The number of waves are dependant on sales. Sony games won't print a ton of games if the game isn't selling.

So why did Resistance 3 ship over 4 million when it barely broke 1? And none of the prequels pointed it was selling well enough to move 4 million?

[QUOTE="OB-47"]

Microsoft never established itself as a strong platform made for eerrr platformers. Plus we are seeing less and less platformers anyway, so why start making them now?

OB-47

Actually, this gen has shown a major resurgence in platformers, though mainly 2d.

Yes there has been a resurgance but mostly in the way of indie titles and DD games (RM:O excluded)

And since MS has never been a platformer king, or supported the genre, there's not much point starting now.

Trials, Splosion man, Limbo. Why are you guys not getting this?

[QUOTE="Ravensmash"]You asked me what my favourite games on xbox 360 were and I told you. I didn't nitpick, I just laid out 7/8 titles off the top of my head that impressed me. There is no logic to what you're saying. I'm sure a PS3 fan (although I'm unsure of why that term is being used to exclude me) could come up with a more impressive sounding list, or a Wii gamer, or a PC gamer, or a fellow 360 gamer too.casharmy

That's just it, They really couldn't (check someone already did) and I already knew that because I am aware of the 360 library. I do not konw why a 360 fan would get mad at anyone saying the 360 doesn't have any varitety when it's more or less the case.

Yes 360 has multiplatform games that is well established, but no one NEEDS a 360 for multiplats. 360's variety isn't added up by how many games that it has which can also be found elsewhere, it's added up by what sets it apart I.E. exclusives and furthermore quality games that stand out and are worthy of attention.

When you talk about the great games that set each system apart, the top 2 games mentioned are Gears and Halo, after that it's Forza, then people just fish around to fill in what ever is there because there really aren't any other high quality games to nominate.

Gears Fable Forza Crackdown Halo Culdcept N3 series Chromehounds Amped 3 Saints Row. Where's Ps3 sandbox games> Where's PS3 Mech games? Where PS3card battle games? Where PS3 Snowboarding games? Where PS3 open world exclusive?

Is there even another retail exclusive platformer for the 360 before or since? I'm certainly unable to think of any at the moment.

Stevo_the_gamer

That's a cute copout.

Not really. Trials, Splosionman, Limbo.

His poor arguing aside, ShadowMoses is correct. Microsoft has not invested at all in the platformer genre outside of one Banjo Kazooie game way back in 2008 and even that game de-emphasized platforming considerably compared to prior games in the franchise. That makes it rather clear that they don't see much demand there from their player base. Is there even another retail exclusive platformer for the 360 before or since? I'm certainly unable to think of any at the moment.

Also please note: Symphony of the Night is NOT a platformer, whatever metacritic may say. It's an action-adventure game with exploration and RPG elements. There is quite literally no way to die by falling, even spikes and water take awhile to kill you and both can be entirely neutralized. Mega Man is far more of a platformer than SOTN is and outside of Megaman Zero I don't consider any series of Megaman games to be particularly platform-y.

[QUOTE="ZoomZoom2490"] he said rayman developed by ms, try to pay attention next time.ZoomZoom2490

file.php?id=523

Can you point out where he said that cause I'm not seeing. Maybe it is you that needs to pay attention.

you are just like him, lost in space. go back to first page and read TC's post. he was talking about nintendo's, sony's and ms platformers. not ubisoft's or games that are not platformers.

[QUOTE="Dudersaper"]My first post basically tells the biggest differences, I don't really know how to explain it more, sorry. But in short: Persona3FES/Persona 4: -Easily reccomendable for newcomers to SMT -More accessible difficulty (with choice between easy, normal and hard) -You gain skills by getting new Personas -Personas are gained at the end of battles where you do a sort of pick a card game -Persona Fusing System -Calender Date-Sim to create bonds with friends and get stronger Personas -Simple turn-based combat, focusing on exploiting enemy weaknesses (if you exploit the weakness of a monster, it will stay "Down" and lose a turn, if all monsters in a battle are "Down", your party can perform an "All-Out Attack", where all members join and clobber the enemy. -Monsters are seen directly in the world, you then have a chance to strike the enemy befre entering the battle, this will decide who attacks first in battle Digital Devil Saga 1 & 2 -Higher difficulty than the Persona games, no choice between easy, normal or hard. -You gain skills via Skill Grid, where you purchase a skill set and level it up, once it reaches it's max, you learn the skills in the set. -Your characters monster forms are the only usable monsters in the game (as opposed to Personas personas and Devil Summoners devils) -Incredibly high random encounter rate -Turn-based combat, using "press turns", exploit a weakness, you gain a press turn, you can also lose press turns if you hit enemies with elements they are strong or immune against. Devil Summoner 1 & 2: -Moderate difficulty. -You "learn" skills by capturing devils, your devils then have the skills you can order them to perform in battle. -Action battle system, you directly control your character and use the X button to strike, and also have a gun, Triangle brings up the menu to use items/summon captures devils/etc -You can use devils outside of combat fr various things (ex. reading peoples minds) -Random battles rate is moderate. Can't really elaborate on the other as I haven't played them enough.

What about the first two personas? (as I mentioned, i just recently got Persona 2.)

If you read it it does.Dudersaper
It doesn't tell of differences between series like Persona and Digital devil.
