[QUOTE="onemic"]All DX10 really does is vastly improve performance for advanced shader, mapping, FX, and effect techniques. It does next to nothing for the current shaders and features that are already used in DX9.
Since Lost planet is pretty much a DX9 game as no real advanced shaders that take advantage of DX10 are used, it isn't a good game to perform a benchmark on.

Yet the question most gamers are interested in is...
(in the near future) Will DX10 be able to offer the same framerates as DX9. If DX10 has a better structure, and both tests are performed on machines running vista under the same settings; will DX10 framerates be equivalent to DX9. Faster would be better imo-
[QUOTE="250Ridah"]Im interested in most gamers current opinions on the war between DX9 and DX10
Initially I thought DX10 would have better structure, improved optimization, and result in higher framerates. I've been watching the comparisons of Lost Planet in HD. After 3 reviews im convinced the only place I notice a reasonable difference is in the very brief view of the waterfall near the end of the video. IMO there is little to NO difference
This may be primarily due to the fact that Lost Planet was not designed to use directX 10 specifically. Perhaps in the near future when more games are designed for DX10 exclusively it will be far easier to notice subtle differences in their game fx.
As things currently stand, im inclined to stick with DX9 until DX10 can offer the same framerates. Im wondering if this is pretty much everyone's opinion

Erm... first of all, LOL at basing your argument on Lost Planet.
Check out Crysis instead.
Dx10 isn't about getting better framerates with Dx9 graphics. It's about Dx10 graphics.
Just think about the transition from Dx8 to Dx9, etc.
It's coming, it's good, and of course there will be more games with Dx10. And probably in a year all the new games are Dx10 only.
And that just sucks. Some people may not want to upgrade their OS! (Me, for example.) I just bought my computer less than a year ago, and then upgraded to the then (and still, imho) sensuous x1950pro radeon. I am not ready for the shift to vista.
