I have a lingering doubt that this game will live up to the hype since it took Square Enix 10 years to finish it...

It's really good to see a list of a few decent horror movies since most horror movies that come out these days are fucking terrible! Paranormal Activity was the first movie that I actually fell asleep watching because it was so stupid and unscary. That movie seriously looked like something a film student made.
I've bought plenty of terrible games over the years due to either poor judgement or misleading advertising, but Silent Hill Downpour is probably the worst game I've played this generation.
I'm normally pretty forgiving when it comes to crappy horror games, but there is literally nothing to like about this game. The story is totally bland and uninteresting, the characters are lame and forgettable, all the monsters are unbelievably generic, and the controls are a broken mess even for a SH game.
Even with all the other shitty games I bought I still bothered to sit down and finish them at least once before I sold them, but I couldn't even be bothered to finish Downpour because the game sucks that bad. I actually thought Homecoming was a better game, hell Downpour makes Homecoming look like GOTY.
I'll also give a dishonorable mention to Banjo Nuts and Bolts because **** that game.
I have this Zelda-like game in my Steam account called Oceanhorn: Monster of the Uncharted Seas that's very similar to ALTTP and Zelda games in general. If you like Zelda games than you can't go wrong with that one!
Also it was a bit embarassing hearing Lara talk to herself all the time. .
Why is it "embarrassing" to hear Lara talking to herself?
As far as recent games go, I would say Beyond Two Souls since I pre-ordered it but I quickly stopped playing it because that game was really awful. I eventually sat down and finished it somewhere around 4-6 months after I bought it, but only because I figured I should play thru the entire game at least once. I haven't touched it since.
It took me at least a couple years to finish Mass Effect 2. I bought both ME2+3 in tandem in a Gamestop bargin bin a couple years ago, and for some reason every time I started up ME2 I would always lose interest in the game and stop playing. I would start the game back up on a new save file every so often but then I would stop playing... until a few months ago when I decided to dust off my PS3 and sit down to finally finish ME2. I've been playing thru ME3 in small, short bursts since then.
But my longest gap would definitely be Zelda Twilight Princess. I got the game for the GameCube way back when it came out in '06, and for some reason or another I didn't finish it until around '12 or '13 when I invited a friend over to my house and he suggested that we play thru it.
Also, I've only completed a playthrough of MGS4 only once. I've tried to re-start that game many times over the years but I ALWAYS lose interest by the 2nd act, since it's a long game and the pacing is very slow, not to mention it's pretty hard for me to want to re-play a game like that when I already know what's going to happen...
As much as I love playing games, I just don't have the time nor the attention span to sit down and play long games like I used to anymore =T
The most disapointing hype kill for me was Resident Evil 5. I was DYING to play this game and I even preordered that fucking $90 collectors edition. Tbh I knew I was expecting way too much out of this game but still, I couldn't believe that Capcom turned RE into such a bland and generic action shooter.
Hell I still think that the game's first reveal trailer from '07 actually looked a lot better than the actual game that we got.
@Mozelleple112: That's kinda how I feel about Final Fantasy XV really. While the verdict is still out on the gameplay, I really can't how the main character looks like such a stupid emo ***. That character design is so obnoxious =.=
