The PS2/Xbox/Gamecube generation was the last "retro" generation as that was before console gaming got ruined by all this DLC/season pass bullshit.

I really miss the good old days of gaming when you actually got a complete game for a complete price.

If I could have seen the direction that console gaming was headed in ten years ago I would have switched to PC gaming a long time ago.

I had just started high school way back when the first Kingdom Hearts game came out, and the sequel didn't come out until I was in my senior year. So needless to say I was pretty fucking stoked to finally play KHII after four years of chomping at the bit! I can remember I asked my dad to pick up my pre-ordered copy for me at GameStop while I was at school, and later on that day I started coming down with something and I started feeling really ill... But at the back of my mind I knew I could tough it out and wait to get home to play KHII. After what felt like a bajillion hours I finally made it home and was delighted to see my new game inside a GameStop bag on my bed. I can still remember the fervor I felt when I peeled off the plastic on the case and started reading the manual...

Since I was sick, I ended up staying home from school for the rest of the week and I did nothing except stay in my bed playing Kingdom Hearts II all day!

Awesome times man, haven't been that excited to play a game since then.

I think it's pretty silly that people still care about this whole plastic guitar video game crap. I used to spend hours playing guitar hero and rock band years and years ago before I finally realized that I could have spent that time playing my real guitar instead.

Hell I spent more money on rock band over the years than I want to admit, but it makes me really glad that I finally sold all that stuff and never looked back.

@BassMan: If by the 360's "unmatched" services you mean all those ads you see when you boot the system up?

@alim298: I don't know if I'd say that, but it was a really cool game overall. The lack of a HUD, the "healing" system, the story, etc. All the elements were well done. My biggest complaint was the game got kind of "actiony" in the third act but I was really impressed with it.

Remember, mommy "bites".

I just added that game in my Steam wishlist, was really surprised I never heard of this game before since I love Lovecraft's stories!

@DocSanchez: It is a "good" game if you play it in the mindset that it's some weird cult game that somehow became one of the more memorable games in the last few years despite being so broken and flawed.

Then again if you have a taste of the strange and offbeat like I do, than you'll probably find it more entertaining than most people would. What most people don't understand is that "cult" games/movies are an acquired taste, they only appeal to a niche group.

Deadly Premonition is my guilty pleasure. It's hard for me to explain why I like it but it makes me feel like I'm playing a long lost Dreamcast game.

I'm also a huge fan of David Lynch/Twin Peaks so that might have something to do with it.

An honorable mention would go out to Star Wars: Masters of Teras Kasi. I was really obsessed with fighting games when I was a kid so I played the **** out of that game and I loved every second of it!

Also, I used to be really into Spawn around the time the movie came out, so I loved playing Spawn the Eternal on Playstation, despite it being such a POS game.

My gaming regrets (in no particular order)

Buying Dead Rising for $20 when it was such a pathetic excuse for a zombie game. I was so pissed off that I actually smashed the disc with a hammer and not a single **** was given.

Letting my dumbass friends talk me into buying COD4 even tho it was a game that I had zero interest in but I only bought it since all of us wanted a game we could all play on Xbox Live together. I even bought the "special edition" with extra map packs and crap for $70, but the really lame thing is I never even played the game with my friends...

Letting some moron at Gamestop talk me into buying RE4 for the Wii because he said it was the "best version", even though I already had the game on Gamecube/PS2. I got home and played it for 5 minutes before I realized the Wii controls sucked ass and I took it right back to Gamestop the next day and got my money back, even though I had to argue with the clerk for like 10 minutes because they didn't accept returns on opened new games.

Buying a third Xbox 360 after my second one shit the bed on me, when I really wanted to buy a PS3 at that point but I still had some gaming buddies on Xbox Live... I ended up selling my 360 with all my games to some guy on craigslist a few years later so that all worked out in the end.

Preordering Beyond: Two Souls for $60 when it was such a POS game, which was a damn shame too because I totally loved Heavy Rain.

I don't really regret preordering Metal Gear Solid Ground Zeroes but I do regret paying $30 for it since it felt more like a $10 game at the most. Coincidentally I haven't preordered a game since then, so take from that what you will.

Trading in a bunch of my 360 games at Gamestop even tho I knew I would get completely ripped off but I didn't care since I just wanted to get rid of that stuff really fast and didn't feel like waiting for someone to buy them on craigslist/ebay.

But the thing I regret the most was spending more time playing Guitar Hero/Rock Band instead of playing my real guitar... I really think I need to get some new hobbies.

They'll return to their former glory when they'll release new Dino Crisis as good as first two games and Resident Evil 7 as true horror game instead of mindless action movie.

This.

But Capcom being the way they are nowadays I seriously doubt we'll ever see a "real" Resident Evil game ever again sadly. And that being said what the hell is up with them refusing to bring back Dino Crisis? I mean it's not like people don't want a dinosaur game or anything, considering we've been dying for Capcom to revive Dino Crisis for over a decade!

You should avoid Gamestop like the plague, I really don't get why so many people keep buying/trading their games there since they always rip you off so bad...

That being said, you should always turn to Craigslist/Ebay/Amazon if you want to get rid of your games.
