@goggles123456 Every time I think that, I go back to Linux. Then I cry when I realise I've wasted all evening screwing with text files, searching through forum posts trying to get the calculator app working ;\

@johnritter4141 Not weird at all. Most games are MASSIVE time and energy sinks. Personally, when I get home from work, I find that the last thing I want to do is expend what little energy and time I have grinding in a 3D world.

In fact, MMOs especially are designed to hook in the young and vulnerable, kids with too much time and too little understanding of themselves, and will drop out of school because leveling up a character has taken over their life.

Such is the world of business; businessmen would sell cigarettes to pre-school kids if you let them. (I place most of the blame on the broken economic model and corrupt nanny states, but we're all to blame.)

Back on topic, if reading news websites has become a time-consuming habit, maybe you can focus that energy more productively on some other projects :)

"We're really trying to tackle what I call the temptation factor of the auction house, which is making sure that players think 'yeah I could probably find something in the auction house, but you know what, I could probably find something even better and more fun in the game.'"

Would somebody please, please fire these morons?

Definitely not buying this turd of a game.

"In the biggest reversal of policy since the Catholic church condemned child molestation," HAHAHAHA.

Brilliant. Great stuff Danny :D

I've only recently started watching these vids, but find them very enjoyable and interesting; great to watch. Thanks Danny.

P.S. I am a supporter of Kinect in every box. Not just because I want Kinect, but because Kinect can only reach it's full potential by being included in every box. If it is not in every box, it will fail miserably. The technology can only influence the developers if it becomes a standard offering from Microsoft, and I would really, really like to see the technology reach it's full potential. Yes, the controller is better for most hardcore games, but Kinect offers the possibility of an evolution for consoles, and I'd like to see that fleshed out.

Kinect also gives Microsoft a point-of-difference over Sony's console. The absolute WORST decision they could make right now would be to make their console basically a slightly-different-looking PS4, but with fewer JRPGs.

In my opinion, Microsoft NEEDS to position themselves as the "premium home entertainment box". This IMO is their selling point - as, IMO, it was with the 360 and with the original Xbox - and while it may result in less early adopters in the hardcore gamer crowd, I think it is better for them in the long run.

@fredwv Been there, buddy.

Although I'm completely out of the habit right now (grr!) I'd have to recommend meditation as an extremely healthy way to learn to truly get the most out of every day, and learn "the art of living". A good book for newcomers is The Lost Art of Compassion (which I clearly need to re-read).

Great vid Danny. Thank you for the thoughts!

I've personally never had too much problem with single-player games. For me, those are fun hobbies, easy enough to put down. MMOs though? ... :\

If you think about it, there's almost no difference between a gambler's slot machine and the loot drop system in most online games :\

Another thing, ever since I first connected to the internet years ago, I struggle to read paper books. Sometimes I think gaming + internet is all just over-stimulating crap, and it makes me want to go live in a forest somewhere. Stupid world!

It's as if... It's as if every game maker suddenly realised they can scrooge more money out of their customers by making MMOs...

...

OH WAIT :O?!?!!

@jcplglob @Slagar Well, they're going for the total package. I prefer it - I hate having to buy add-ons at inflated costs later. By getting it in the box, it means they can better support the product, and developers can utilise it better. Buy PS4 if you don't like it. I do like it.
