I used to work as a web developer (PHP programmer, design basics) and later a full time graphic designer (print, some web). I really like what you've done here, Gamespot. The old site was getting archaic. This looks modern, but strikes all the right chords for me - compared with, e.g. GTs reasonably new site, which unfortunately looked more like it was done in 15 minutes in Illustrator. There's a kind of "clear thinking" feel about this design IMO (which may have taken some revisions to get right!). I'm also extremely grateful for the updated screenshot/image viewer - I got so sick of clicking "Full Size"! The news is still taking front and center on the main page, and the review landing page(s) look great (judging by the LoL review).
There are bound to be a few quirks no doubt (videos?), but honestly it's a pleasure to look at on my 1680x1050 desktop PC.
I've enjoyed visiting Gamespot for years, and I really like it - very clean and spacious-looking. Great stuff guys! :-)
@Abanaa Personally, I sympathise. It must be tricky to offer critical professional-style, feedback and questions on the spot, especially when your head is in games all the time! (gamer-fog baaaddd)
@anab0lic That's interesting. I've played the game quite a lot and I actually never noticed that it is slightly more zoomed in than e.g. Torchlight 2 (I guess that shows you how often I play Torchlight 2!). Honestly though, it's a great game, and feels great to play IMO. It's not perfect or perfectly balanced - no game is - but the devs have worked really hard to get the feel right and it really shows IMO. To me, PoE feels even more like Diablo 1 than Diablo 2 did, but it's very much inspired by those games. If you liked those games, you're really missing out if you don't try it.
The problem with SSB is there are just too many great characters to fit into one game. I am glad to see Sonic return - he deserves to be a mainstay IMHO!
