I assume your talking about the console version because the cover mechanic works flawlessly for me on the PC and I think it is one of the best aspects of the game. The PC version has the option to use the 360 controller. I tried it and frankly I don't know how you console guys do it so in that case I would have to agree with you. The problem is I think first person shooters in general on console have awkward, difficult to use controls. With that said the cover did seem much more finicky with the 360 controller. On the PC you just run into a wall and hit the right mouse button and your slapped up against the wall in that sudo third person view. I feel the action button to hug the wall and lean around is far superior to press your nose up against a wall and press a lean left or lean right button to peek around corners.
I thought the break from being able to run at 25 mph like in most FPS down to the normal speed of a commando loaded down with body armor and two very large, heavy weapons to be refreshing and much more realistic.
The blur can be cut down quite a bit in the settings but not when you get hit. It seemed to me like an effective change from the typical health bar but I can see this point.
I also agree somewhat on the graphics and although my monitor is not the highest quality R6V seemed to be what I have come to expect from the unreal engine, nothing more. I imagine it would look about the same on a console with a high def TV as it does on my system. The setting was very cool but the colors with the reddish orange look seems to make Vegas look more bland than I would have liked.
I'm not into fanboyisim and the whole just because I like it then there must be something wrong with you because you don't thing. For me that simply does not compute. I can understand why someone that likes the high speed run and gun Halo, Painkiller, Doom type games might be turned off by R6V. I don't want to label you but perhaps this just isn't your type of shooter. R6V is not supposed to be a run and gun game and while in this latest version of R6 they took a lot of the Tactical out of this Tactical shooter its still different from your typical FPS.
I'm not trying to sell you on the game because if you don't like it you don't like it. Your certainly not alone but on this one I think your in a relatively small minority.
I think one thing is for sure, the format for the next one will probably not change much.
