I believe in aliens, but they're only tiny bacteria-like creatures.

TSNAKE617

well that much is obvious, but given the scale of the universe... i would say its likely there are other beings more advanced than us.

But then there is also the posthuman simulation theory that we are all basically a computer simulation experiment being run by a more advanced version of ourselves to study their history.... which frankly i find less far fetched than aliens visiting us.

I believe in aliens.

I however dont believe in alien sightings or any form of alien contact... because the entire premise is simply illogical..

The idea that aliens are buzzing around our planet in invisible ships... but occasionally they accidentally bump the "make spaceship glow" switch on their dashboard only to linger for a few moments then zoom away so some redneck can get a blurry video of it... doesnt make sense.

The only way alien sightings are real is if aliens have a tremendous sense of humor and they have some sort of comedy show going where they occasionally mess around with humans so they can laugh at their reactions.

Your first mistake: looking at youtube comments. They should almost never be taken seriously. The kid is 14, he probably likes to talk **** because it makes him feel cool. Mochyc

well in my longer pre edited post, i said i knew a couple of these kids back when i was in school.

and linked a video to one of these charlatan teachers that has his entire cIass believing in super powers.

Alot of those martial arts styles are all flash and no real substance at all. But obviously there are some styles that are very effective, The US military trains combat troops in Jiu Jitsu, the Israeli military trains in Krav Maga which many would agree is extremely effective. It all just depends on what MMA style you choose imo the flashier it is the less effective it will be in a real fight. atony12

Well martial arts is kind of a broad term, obviously some forms are effective.... such as the ones you named. But there are alot of kids out there that are taught martial arts movies are real by their sensei or whatever and say that can just grab someones fist in midair, then break their wrist and knock them unconscious with a karate chop to the neck or something.

Basically teaching false self defense techniques to children at daycare dojos afterschool.... that could potentially seriously get them killed if they actually believe the flashy crap will protect them in a serious situation.

Are you asking if they're the real deal? BranKetra

I know they arent the real deal, nobody can summon chi or slap a pressure point or two to down someone twice their size.

Im wondering if OT believes in martial artists super powers, or if its dangerous teaching small children they have these amazing abilities to defend themselves.... when they should be doing the smart thing... and running the hell away.

Has anyone ever met one of these people, that claim practitioners of ancient martial arts somehow have superpowers?

Alot of these chubby middle age guys running dojo's seem to like going around telling children they have superpowers, here is a ridiculous comment i just saw on a youtube video:

"muscles dont make or break you're striking power, my sifu taught me how to use my core and chi and body positioning and movement for striking, muscle helps yes which is why we build more all the time, but we mostly use it to absorb impact, im only 14 but if i were fighting someone that was RIPPED i could paralyze them, hit different nerves on their muscles giving the sense of feeling numb limbed and tired, thus opening a spot for striking."

^this kid probably believes this crap... and when he gets mugged by a group of guys, he will probably refuse to give up his wallet or run and be brutally beaten (or worse) in order to find out he doesnt actually have super powers.

It seems irresponsible and dangerous for people to be teaching this kind of nonsense imo, especially to gullible kids.

But then again half the internet thinks bruce lee had super powers, so whats your opinion OT?

EDIT: shortened for limited attention spans

simple... take some gasoline from the plane, short the battery to ignite it and start a massive forest fire. Someone will likely want to come check on why the entire forest is on fire.

Ill be rescued before dinner time.

Yea i never understood why people considered british comedy to be witty and intelligent.

I mean i guess if you are comparing it to a larry the cable guy movie.

But the US has far better offerings.

im not really sure how i could assist with someone's suicide, outside of maybe buying a bottle of jack and a gun and leaving it on the kitchen table for them.

But it seems like they would be capable of getting those themself. So, no... I wouldnt.

But i dont have a problem with someone suffering thats exhausted all other avenues committing suicide.
