The same as Oblivion. The difference being in Demon's souls combat that didn't suck.

edidili

Lol, so now Oblivion isn't an RPG? What exactly constitutes as an RPG to you people? I think your notion of what an RPG is hasn't existed since the 90's and early 2000's.

Wth, I said action rpg. It';s not exactly a turn based rpg is it?

There are real time and turn based RPGs.

If all RPGs need to be turn based that means games like Ultima, Baldur's Gate, Icewind Dale, Planescape torment etc. are not RPGs.

And most people consider them to be some of the most defining RPGs.

So if an RPG is only turn based, then i think the majority of the gaming community would disagree.

I havent played it, so i might be wrong. I dont quite understand the distinction between RPG and action RPG... but i was under the impression demon souls was more in the action RPG category.

Well here is my understanding... a game like diablo is an action game, with character progression/story elements. A game like oblivion is story/character development focused with action elements.

Is demon souls more about story and character progression than fighting?

oblivion is the best rpg since morrowind.

Every other RPG is mindless linear trash with copious amounts of handholding.

ArisShadows

No and Demon Souls.

Demon Souls isnt quite the same... im not the best on distinguishing genres and whatnot, but it was my understanding demon souls was a pretty linear action RPG (more in common with diablo) with a dash of brutal difficulty thrown in for frustration purposes.

It depends if you are using a $10 mouse or a high end gaming mouse. ;)C_Rule

"High end gaming mouse" God... Console gamers... Just stop, seriously.

I use to have an MS Basic optical mouse, and I did just fine.

Well i played alot of quake 2 online with a ball mouse, i can easily say a controller is more precise than my old ball mouse was :P

Yeah the K/M is most likely the best for playing Shooters but the 360 is a close second and unlike a mouse you don't need to use it on a level surface. xhawk27

KB/M is actually the 4th most accurate way to play shooters. Aimbots are the most accurate, followed by proprietary brain wave interpreters and then retinal tracking devices, with M/Kb coming in 4th... 360 controller being the 5th.

But I like to think hardcore gamers arent about finding the easiest route to success (since that would mean aimbotters are the most hardcore).

[QUOTE="soapandbubbles"][QUOTE="funsohng"] Doesn't matter when aiming feels restricted. And mouse is just a lot faster. Isn't that the most important thing for "hardcore" gamers? I don't know about other people, but I will never be able to play arena shooters on analog sticks.edidili

faster...can make a player over aim or miss it's target...with the resistance of a analog stick, you can time it right. like a real weapon..it has weight..and mouse has so little..and it's easy to slide it too fast, even if you adjust the sensitivity to less, the mouse is just too light, IMO...again, for me it's triggers especially. feels so right.

Like a real weapon? Because it takes 5 seconds to make a 180 in real? Seriously dude, don't bother to devaluate the mouse when it comes to shooters. Only because you suck at it doesn't make it bad.

ill tell you right now, it takes a lot longer to do a 180 in real life than it does to move your wrist an inch... but its a stupid tangent in general, because video games are not real life.

I guess the most hardcore fps players join the military, if this is the path we are traveling down..

[QUOTE="C_Rule"]

[QUOTE="soapandbubbles"] what? Controllers..especially the 360's controller is made for FPS...the way the triggers mimic a gun in the way you pull it. and dual analogs give resistance and great control IMO..something a keyboard and mouse lacks due to over sensitivity...there is no weight/resistance like a controller. Can't stand moving and clicking a mouse for controls, IMO..to each there own. soapandbubbles

I can't believe you actually think that.

I mean, I've seen console gamers say some really stupid things, but I haven't seen one who legitimately thinks gamepad is better than M/KB for FPS.

can't stand PC gaming...how is a mouse with a click function and such sensitive movement good for shooters? while i can see how it gives more control, the sensitivity and lack of weight doesn't give me a great feeling for shooters, while triggers and 2 sticks with resistance to them..gives me that weight and precision...hard to explain. the shape of the 360 controller fits the hand perfectly too. but yeah, the triggers i just need for a shooter..not a click.

As someone that has played both extensively, M/KB is easily superior to controller. I play PC shooters alot and would never dream of using a controller for PC fps.

But for consoles you cant use M/KB (without cheating) so the point is moot, hardcore consoles players use controllers for fps on consoles.

Why would Microsoft discontinue the greatest console ever?

Silverbond

The best console ever was the dreamcast, and that was discontinued :P

the controller obviously is not for hardcore gamers.

Hardcore gamer's dont need an LCD screen. Few hardcore games offer the leeway to look at your lap during play, without getting shot 50 times in the face.

Also hardcore gamers often break or wear out controllers due to heavy use... and i imagine a wii-u controller is going to be expensive to replace.
