[QUOTE="delta3074"]how the rest of the architecture effects the performance of the console, in the early years of the Ps3 they had a problem with a bottle neck becasue they where trying to do all the Graphics on the GPU and allowing it to use the RAM allocated for the Cell, then they had the amazingly Clever idea of using the Cell to do a lot of the GPU's work so the bottleneck that occured when the GPU tried to access the CPU's memory pool was eleiminated. You can have a powerful GPU but it can either be helped or hindered by the rest of the Hardware. Example: having a high end GPU gimped by high RAM latency.clone01

Look, I know you had a love affair with your Xbox,  but why do you feel the need to continue defending the Xbone now that you're gonna cheat on it with the PS4?

The Xbox ONE's architecture is even worse than the PS4's.

Who cares? I enjoyed SMG 1 & 2, and those graphics were sd.

Xboners should care...

The Xbone has a worse controller, worse specs, and no good games. Their best game Halo is now a shadow of its former self. There is nothing on Microsoft's side that redeems this POS of a console.

[QUOTE="delta3074"] 'almost identical' and you have to factor in the rest of a consoles architecture to do a decent comparison between power, you know this tormentos, you just have to be patient, i have a feeling your day is coming just not yet:)delta3074

Like what.?

Insiders have been saying that the PS4's architecture was more efficient and that real-world performance was very close to the theoretical performance (172 GB/s Realworld bandwidth out of 176 GB/s theoretical bandwidth). It's the Xbox ONE that's having difficult reaching even 65% of its theoretical performance. The eSRAM's realworld bandwidth is 133 GB/s out of 218 GB/s theoretical bandwidth.

Is it too much to ask to be able to run a CoD game at 1080p, 60 FPS? Is it too much to ask to be able to run a fighting game at a higher resolution than 720p?

If you've answered yes to any of the 2 questions, then the Xbone is perfect for you.

Good day SS1.

I think that both of those things should be possible from a next gen console, so I guess my answer is 'no it's not too much'. I'd also have expected New Super Mario Bros U, a platformer on Wii U to be 1080P, but it wasn't. Still a good game.

None of the next gen consoles are perfect for me yet, including the one I bought out of boredom. lol.

So why are titanfall and KI running at 720p?

Yeah but the thing is, those who are complaining about next gen power probably have 3x 7970's (or whatever). You can't game at 120fps on a next gen console, or 1440P - so such individuals remain safe in their ivory tower.

Some of us are wholly uninterested in GTA5, but at the same time I know that it is a very popular franchise and there must be a couple of sore bottoms out there due to a lack of an announcement for a PC version.

But all in all TC I get your point, GTA5 does look pretty impressive for 2005/6 hardware.

Many xboners are going to be disappointed this holiday season when they find out how downgraded the xbone controller is compared to the 360 controller. The DS4 is the 360 controller of next-gen. Feel the inferiority, xboners.

Damage controlling for the Xbone, are we? People like you are the reason why Microsoft thinks they can trample over the industry. We complain because the Xbone can't run a fighting game at 1080p. We complain because the Xbone can't run a CoD-clone at 1080p. We demand the best. If you xboners like being a 3rd class gamer, then go get the xbone.

From my own experiences, I will say this:

  1. scalablilty. I know that when we add new processors to our database servers, web servers, or renering servers, we do not see a performance increase that is linear with the number of processors. For instance, I just added 2 more processors to each of our web servers (taking them from 6 to 8), and we did not achieve a 33% increase - we recieved about a 10% increase.
  2. Clock speed =/= processor speed if the chips are customized. You have to look at a lot of factors.
  3. Just because the author doesn't know how the ESRAM will be used, does not make the point "debunked"
  4. nonthing new
  5. This is the one I have a big problem with. The performance aspect of APIs is HUGE. It's being demonstrated right now - the was an article saying how MS had to use PCs (E3 maybe) because the latest API they gave the dev studios wasn't properly optimized. I have seen first hand internal apps run faster when we migrate .Net code from one version to the next. The AT guy is 100% wrong there.
  6. nonthing new

StormyJoe

More CUs mean more bandwidth split between each CUs.

The PS4 splits 18 CUs on 176 GB/s bandwidth. Xbox ONE splits 12 CUs on 68 GB/s.

PS4 has 9.777 GB/s per CU while the Xbox ONE has 5.666 GB/s per CU. Each CU on the PS4 should perform better than each CU on the Xbox ONE.

she will prolly die but pissing you off is worth it.

Riverwolf007

Microsoft doesn't have anyone on the level of Mark Cerny. Next gen belongs to SONY. So sorry, Xboner.

Left side = facts Right side = "What the Hell does that even mean" "we don't know how it's used" "maybe true" "who cares" "I don't know if it's even true" :lol:Spartan070

I take it you haven't even passed 2nd grade math yet, yes? Shouldn't you be doing your homework now, kid?

WAIT WAIT WAIT... Did Penello just argue against the validity of the distributive property? The binary operation "+" follows the laws of the distributive property. Up-clocking each core 6% is the same thing as summing the performance of the cores pre-upclock and then multiplying that number by 1.06.
