Computer Model I'm looking at, reviews soon, and more

Hey everyone,

I am borrowing my Bro's laptop to do some game reviews(Just Cause and Meet the Robinsons for 360), look at a guide for Call of Juarez(more on that in a min), and also make a new blog entry.

Starting off, this is the computer model I am looking at. It is a Gateway GM5664 TV desktop with widescreen 17"(in a discussion with a Best Buy rep, I can upgrade the screen size to my desired 22") LCD monitor and printer with a price tag of $1,149. The cost is in my price range, so that really doesn't matter. I am not really planning on getting big in PC gaming with this(otherwise, I would just go ahead and build a PC), but I want to pick up Halo 2 PC and maybe Gears of War PC. Anyways, here are the specs (and how they measure to my PC):

Windows Vista Home Premium w/ SP1 (had Windows XP media center edition)

AMD Live! branded Phenom (Quad-core) processor 2.3 ghz(had an early version of Intel Dual Cores)

3GB RAM DDR2(had 2 GB)

1TB (1000GB) HDD SATA II (had 320GB, probably the biggest upgrade)

256MB ATI Radeon HD 2400XT w. TV tuner (had 256MB ATI Radeon X1300)

HD 8 channel audio (same as before)

CD/DVD/Blu-Ray/HD-DVD disc drive (had two disc drives(CD and DVD) before, but this downgrade is nice since I never used the one)

media card reader (same as before)

6 USB 2.0 slots( had 8, slight downgrade that may hurt)

Wireless Mouse and Keyboard (had wired)

On Call of Juarez news, I finished the game, but now I'm working on its many achievements, which is proving to be fun. The guide I neeed is the the wanted posters, since the world is so massive that it will take a guid to find these posters. I also have to find guns or something. Anyways, this game is pretty incredible to play, making it on game that is definitely underrated. The online is actually still active, with over 40 people playing everyday. I enjoy the matches, but if anyone would like to boost for those tough mp achievements, drop me a message or friend request.

Anyways, I am looking into that unit but might pass it up if I find a better deal. Yes, I am getting Windows Vista since I actually enjoy the model of Windows Vista on this laptop quite well and it was always a plan of mine to upgrade to Vista. Thats pretty much it for this entry, aside from me and my usual affair of BEGGING for my readers to read and recommend(or not) my reviews. The Condemned review has no recommendations so please take a look and also when Just Cause and Meet the Robinsons show up as well. Thanks in advance.

Peace,

(Entry from PS3) Computer set itself on fire

Hello everyone, Before you get all worried, I will inform you that I am fine and the computer fire didn't cause any damage to anything other than well...the computer. This computer is the same one that I had recently returned to me from being repaired for over a month and a half and now it is outside, awaiting its trip to the dump. The fire was only inside the unit at the power supply and I believe it was the fan that caused it. Anyways, because it set fire, we are now just going to buy a whole new PC setup so I'm in the market. You may recommend models if you wish (I know it is cheaper, but I am not going to build one). I would go into further detail but this is a PS3 blog so it has a limit to typing . Peace, SoralinkGS

Happy Easter, Got games done, and Condemned:Criminal Origins feedback

Happy Easter to those that celebrate the holiday!

Everyone else, hello and welcome to another day in our lives as gamers!

Anyways, my week has been very furfilling, with the complete of not one but FOUR different titles, three being on Xbox 360 and one on the Wii. First off, I'm not techinically done with the game, but I have unlocked enough (all characters and few of the stages) and beaten the story mode to declare that SSBB is done to a point. It's a wonderful game that will be sitting in my Wii for possibly the entire summer, that is, until I get some more Wii games. *laughs* Also, I happy to say that I finally getting back to finishing games with Condemned, Just Cause, and Meet the Robinsons all now for sale on Ebay excluding MtR(more on that in a sec) with 1000 achievement points(or 970 in Condemned's case).

Sadly, I wanted to put Meet the Robinsons on Ebay, but my mother warned me it wouldn't be a good idea after I told her it's defective. For those wondering, the game has a serious problem with A) making 360 do a ton of clicking nosies when trying to load and B) having audio problems during all cutscenes and freezing frequently. I bought it used, got a new version, and it continued to produces on both of the 360s in the house. Anyways, so its in the yard sale pile now, with probably $5 on its cover. I mean, it works and I probably would sell it on Ebay for those achievement monkeys who don't care, but its not worth going through the trouble of someone not reading the description for something I will get less than probably $15 for.

Moving on, I wanted to get something things off my chest about Condemned. First off, this is a spectatcular game that was completly advertised WRONG. I mean, this is definitely a horror game more that is more about beating stuff up than investigating. Sure, it has its fair share of investigations to perform, but it's definitely not what this game is all about. This is, however, the best launch 360 game that is not on any other console, and that accounts for something. yes, I even think its better than Call of Duty 2, which I claimed was the best without even playing this one. Another thing I would like to say is that the soundtrack of this game is amazingly good, with that song that plays near the end(I don't want to ruin it for those who haven't played) being an amazing piece. Finally, I just want to say that I still don't get the birds in the game, even though I beat it twice. What do they mean? I read the loading screen dialog and still don't understand. if anyone cares to enlighten me, go ahead in a comment. Nevertheless, Condemned is definitely a series I will now follow, with Condemned 2: Bloodshot now in my mind for a summer purchase.

Peace,

Sora

PS. I'm adding pics to my blog to making it more easy on the eyes, what do think?

Computer returns...

Hey everyone,

Good news is rampant today as my computer returns from its long repair process. In the end, almost everything in the thing was shot and needed to be replaced. The full list of stuff broken was one of the two HDDs, the motherboard, the fans on the video card, and the TV tuner. The computer now has everything replaced outside of the TV tuner, which I opted to not replace seeing how I was never using it. Anyways, I hope this means I will spend the time to blog more, but that probably won't happen. *laughs* Besides its return, the only other thing to note is that SSBB is going well, but I'm short on time to play, seeing how I haven't finished SSE. Speaking of which, chalk me up as a fan of the new adventure mode since I really enjoyed the story so far and I really like the great maze so far. I'm hoping to finish it this weekend. As for characters unlocked, I have everyone except for Wolf, Toon Link, ZS Samus, Sonic, and one other...I always forget this character *looks it up*...actually I don't have anyone else...so four people left! Kind of depressing, since I got to this point on Tuesday, two days after getting the game. I really feel they should have made the character unlocking harder in Adventure mode, because you never really fight the unlocked characters. Anyways, thats it for now...

Peace,

SoralinkGS

PS, for those who sent me SSBB friend codes, I'm adding you tonight if I haven't done so yet.

Question Results and I got Brawl!!

Hello everyone,

I will start this entry with the results of the question(feel free to answer it in a comment here if you haven't) from both kotaku.com and my blog. First off, my blog had very few answers, mainly because nobody really could decide on one game. The closest game was probably Unlimited Saga for the Playstation 2, followed by Halo for Xbox/PC. For Kotaku, however, the results may surprise some. The biggest choices are as followed:

1. Final Fantasy VII (PS1/PC)

2. Halo 2 (Xbox/Xbox 360/Vista/MAC)

3. Shenmue(Xbox/DC)

4. all the sonics after sega went third party(countless platforms)

all the other mainly got one or two votes, with pong, MGS4, and LOST PLANET as the favorible mentions. I was quite surprised by the majority vote for FF7, most being fans of the game themselves. It seems the reason they choose that was mainly because they felt it hindered the series more than helped it in a whole. Sure, the game is epic, but it really crushed the series for being so epic. all the others are guessable, but I found no REAL reason for shenmue's downfall.

To end this entry, All I will say is this:

I GOT SSBB!!!

yep, SSBB friend code is 4081-5184-8157. just comment on whether you added me and put your FC in the comment.

peace,

SoralinkGS

Which game would you unmake?

Hello everyone,

I saw this question over on Kotaku and I just had to ask it in my blog. So thats pretty much it:

If you had a chance to go back in time and stop one game from never being made, what would it be?

Think about it, put the answer in a comment, and I will post the results at a later time.

Until then,

EA to take 2 and call me in the morning...

Hey everyone,

So, you probably all have heard about the whole "Take 2 and EA merger" scandal by now and most probably are screaming "NO its the end of the world!" Well, I don't think its the end of the world...because its business. When I look at the scenario, all it screams to me, as a gamer, is that we have to deal with crappy EA servers on GTAIV's inevitable spin-offs, Midnight Club series, and so on. Besides that, I doubt we will see any other changes to Take 2 besides getting more money to make their games have GRAPHICS THAT DON'T LOOK LIKE CRAP and maybe even more time to make their games. Sure, many fear that GTA will become a "Madden" but in reality, it kinda is a Madden already. Sure, its not out every year, but the last couple of GTA games were the same thing with new features and character rosters. I mean, GTA: [insert city] will be announced a year later, and then a new GTA PSP, and their has got to be some type of GTA spin-off coming for DS and Wii, since I really can't see it not coming. Anyways, that show I look at it.

For a traditional side for once, I will talk about what I am doing in gaming. First off, I finished Bulletwitch on my 360, which was a pretty terrible game. I mean, the entire game seems to be about flipping Alicia(the main character) around, getting a good view of her crotch, and then the rest is "never let go of R trigger....ever." Yea, I considered that crappy. Moving along, I am now in limbo of what to play. I recently got 4200 MS points and blew it all on 4 arcade games, add-on content for Overlord, and some themes and gamer pics. The games I got are Gripshift, Triggerheart Exelica, Discs of Tron, and EXIT. All were wise purchases, since I enjoy playing them a good amount. Gripshift is a game I wanted to get on PS3, but getting it on 360 with achievements was way better of a deal. Sadly, PSP edition's map editor is missing which makes it feel gimped. Discs of Tron has been my addiction since I purchased it, playing at least once a day, and slowly, I gain ground on its leaderboard. Triggerheart and EXIT were both decent purchases, but I am stuck on both in figuring out how what to do at the point of the game. In EXIT, its solving a puzzle. In Triggerheart, its figuring out how get Faintear to appear in levels 1 and 3 and how to get the true endings.

As for the other consoles, I'm currently not playing any of them. The Wii is something I want to jump back into this month, so I might limit my time on 360 so I can make Wii the lead system of choice for March. The PS3, as usual, lags behind from a lack of games. I'm hoping to get all PS3 games from Easter, with Unreal Tournament 3 and Folklore on my mind. Those two games will definitely shift my interest. Anyways, thats whats up with me in gaming terms,

Still without a PC,

SoralinkGS

Is my PS3 heading to "Disc read error" land?

Hello readers,

I decided to make a quick post of something I believe is happening to my one console, and that console would be surprisingly the youngest of the three current systems I own: the Playstation 3. I have the 60GB edition of the PS3, which I love to death, like I do all my consoles, so it saddens me to even think that it's disc drive might be beginning to die already.

My reason for believing so comes from trying to play a few music CDs on the PS3, and some of the tracks weren't working, with error messages popping that the tracks were unreadable and the PS3 made a bunch of clicking noises when it tried to read them. I first thought hat CDs were ruined since they are old CDs and my bro still uses these CDs so they have some wear and tear to them. However, I popped them out and to my surprise, the bottoms are clean with few scratches. So I popped in back and tried to import the CD, and it failed after two songs. The PS3 actually stopped playing tracks that did work before as well on this try.

Disgruntled that the CDs are probably corrupt, I popped them into my Xbox 360 to see if I could listen to them and import them(Remember, my PC is still out of service at this time). The 360 not only plays all the tracks fully, but also copies all the songs without error. The 360 also never does a clicking noise while trying to copy or play them.

So, now that leads to my fear that my PS3's disc drive is beginning to fail with music CDs now questionable if they work. I hope it doesn't evolve beyond this...

Worried about his PS3,

Turok, The Godfather, and Undertow reviews

Hello everyone,

Making this entry short since I still do not have my computer repaired. Anyways, I wrote up these reviews when I had the chance so go ahead and take a look:

Turok Review (8.5/10.0)

The Godfather PLUS DLC Review (8.5/10.0)

Undertow Review (6.0/10.0)

The Godfather review comes with a short review of the downloadable content, so PS3 and 360 users might want to check it out and see if its worth it for users. I think thats enough to read so until I get another chance to blog,

blogging on PS3...

Hey guys, Just thought I would update everyone that I am still without my computer. If you recall, my PC got fried during an icestorm on February 1st, and I'm dealing with HP and a computer repair shop about fixing the thing. The computer shop agreed to replace the fried parts, which happen to be the motherboard and HDD, but they need the recovery CDs for the Computer's OS since its a special type of Windows XP(media center edition). Those recovery CDs I ordered on the 1st? they came, but they were all blank CDs! So now we are waiting on the replacements, which should be here tomorrow... Besides that, I finished Turok and Undertow but no reviews until the PC returns. Finally, I actually got Xbox Live Gold again with a one year kit, which came with the vision camera and Robotron. So things are looking up :) PS3 says no more typing room so cya later, Soralink
