I've read all the Mass Effect and Dragon Age books so far, and I'd be very surprised if anything important is revealed in the books that isn't also revealed in the next game. So you don't HAVE to read the books to understand what happens between the series. I'm sure you'll be beat over the head with that in-game. Usually, the books revolve around marginal (non-player) characters and provide some background and non-essential world building.
"Additionally, players can choose between Japanese and English voices" -- Do you mean in the Japanese version, or in the (as yet unannounced) US version?
I have some great memories of this game. (I also remember grinding forever to get the components for the Sagittarius). Hopefully they'll tweak some of the crafting requirements, and the weapon you can only get if you somehow manage to not open certain chests.
Transistor is a fantastic game, and well worth the $5. If you were holding out because it is short (it is) you should pick it up. It's also a pretty easy game to get plat.
@Argle: I think he's saying that he used the word "about" twice in the same sentence. Apparently that makes him a rebel. Maybe his Junior High writing teacher told him not to repeat words.
But no, he's a gamer daredevil that tells it like it is -- even if that means repeating words (gasp!).
@TenraiSenshi: That's right. And when we look at the FF franchise there are quite a few emotional endings -- some because they are sad, some bittersweet and some happy. Look at the difference between 7, 9 and 10.
