You lucky you found one that works at all. The one I bought from some seller who listed the item as working condition didn't work. You could try taking it to a local repair shop. They might be able to fix it up.

I know, they are getting harder and harder to find. I dont think the seller knew what they had, but I didn't want to pay more than $60 for it because for one it's over 10 years old, and I had a feeling it would need some maintenance.

I'll go to my local computer repair shop to get some thermal paste and maybe they will have that plastic scrape tool to get the old paste off.

So the other day I bought a PS3 from Facebook Marketplace. The guy said it was original, and he bought on launch. So I thought it was the 60GB. I paid him $60; which I thought was a pretty good deal.

Turns out when I got it home and looked at it in more detail, it was actually the 80GB model; which I'm fine with because it still plays PS2 games and is a little more reliable.

The warranty sticker was removed, and the HDD screw was stripped. So I think he stripped it trying to replace it, thus the reason he had a PS3 slim for sale too, (what I think he bought when he couldn't get the HDD out of the 80GB)

So my question is, the PS3 works, isn't very loud, but does get warm/hot after not much play time.

Should I go ahead and replace the thermal paste on the CPU/GPU? If so what thermal paste is best?

I don't plan on playing it all the time, just an occasional ps2 game from time to time.

Persona 5

Nioh

Dark Souls 3

Love a lot about these games, but difficulty and hours required to play keep me from finishing them.

Makes sense it's a business after all keeping games tied up on one system is leaving money on the table.

This exactly. Games cost ten's of millions of dollars to make. If Sony and MS can squeeze more money from PC gamers so be it.

Let the devs make it for console first, spend the next 2 years or so porting to PC then re release it. It will help generate interest in the games again and help the devs out

I dont think TC knows what he is talking about.

Fighting games have evolved and tried new things.

Dragonball Z budaki experimented with a 3D plane you could fight in, Tekken Tag and Marvel vs Capcom introduced tag team elements, the insane amount of combos you can perform now in any fighting game.

Advances are out there, you just have to play more than street fighter. I think your thread should be "Street Fighter has not changed at all" Because if you actually play more games in the genre you will find variety and growth.

EDIT*

EVEN YOUR COMPARISON PICTURES SHOW A CHANGE!

The newest street fighter games introduced power meters and special move indicators, you didn't have that in 2

As a game Collector I would love for the PS5 to be fully backwards compatible with every console Playstation.

I currently have a PS2, PS3, and a PS4 hooked up to my TV. (Would love to get the OG PS3, but they are getting hard to find, and they are not reliable)

Having a PS5 with 1-4 BC would clean up my entertainment center, and provide a solid way to play my older games. One negative with OG hardware is that....well...it's old stuff. Old stuff will break, and as OG PS1 and 2's get older it's going to be hard to fix/replace them.

If I get anything from this thread it's "I'm older now and have other responsibilities, so gaming takes a back seat." Which being on a forum, basically antiquated internet social media, this makes sense haha.

As for next gen, I'm gonna wait a couple of years before purchasing a PS5. For me it needs to be in the $299 range for me to buy in.

My wife and I are trying to save up for a house, so I'm more cost conscious. Dropping $500 on a console and $60 on a few games is a lot of money right now, so I'd rather wait for games to go on sale and keep the consoles I have. There's so many games on PS4 I haven't played yet, and once PS5 drops a lot of those games should get pretty cheap.

And I've developed other hobbies too, I like to garden in the Spring and Summer, I've picked up doing Yoga and hiking and other exercises. And you know taking the wife out and spending time with her.

Im playing Days Gone right now for the first time, and I am enjoying it.

Really the only things that are negative are that it doesn't really try anything new or different. I feel like I've played the game before (The Last of Us, any open world game)

Solid 7-8 out of 10 game.
