As far as I know, no, the DVD drive on the 360 is not multi-region/region-free. It only works for the region that the Xbox is purchased in.

In other words, yours can play the region you live in (2), but none of the other regions. (1, 3, 4, 5, 6.) Same with ones sold in the US here I believe.

I got mine back when they first came out so if there is a problem, it looks like I'm busted.

Not necessarily. You've had the unit for a good long time, ever since launch, so it's likely it'll be able to take a fall and still keep working. It's lasted for at least a good long 2 or 3 years, and that's more than I can say for some of the stories I've read about the red ring of death.

It's probably fine, if it were me, I would keep using it, but I would advise from here on in being very gentle with it.

I've just shaked the unit and I hear a rattling noise. The Xbox 360 reads discs, the hardrive saves, but the 360 itself is ratting if a shake it.

What should I do about it?

Thanks very much for the reply.

I couldn't really say for sure - you could probably check the warranty on the Xbox to see if it covers this type of damage, but even if it does, if you call Microsoft support and tell them what happened they may not replace or repair it. You might need to pay to have it repaired.

I've only personally had a 360 for a few months now, so I've no idea what Microsoft's repair service is like. Best to check with the website, http://www.xbox.com/. If you still have your warranty (Not sure how old your unit is.) look at the details on it and check there first to see if you can get it covered under the warranty.

Edit: Link edited to open in new tab/window instead of same one, which redirected away from GameSpot without warning.

It may still turn on, but be sure it can still read discs, in case the laser lens may have been damaged in the fall.

If the hard drive was attached to the 360 at the time of the fall, check to make sure there are no broken pieces (such as the latching mechanism where the HDD release button is.) also check to make sure the HDD is still able to read/write.

If you had a game in there at the time, even if the Xbox was not on, check to make sure the disc did not incur any damage from the fall (it's unlikely the disc will have shattered inside, but may have circular scratches in it if it was on and spinning.)

Shake the unit - if you hear something rattling inside, chances are your 360 is damaged in some form, and if this is the case I would not recommend opening it up to find out unless you are familiar with how to put hardware back together again.

At worst, long term damage (Even if there isn't any now.) would probably be the three-light red ring of death, meaning hardware failure.

Hope this helps.

For GH2, at least on the PS2 (I'm pretty sure it's no different for the 360.) you go to the main menu screen and just hit each of the buttons in sequential order. No chords, no strumming, just hit the fret buttons once, then the next, then the next, until the code is finished. You should get a confirmation on screen that you entered the code correctly.

In GH3, it's a different story, that actually has a cheat code input interface, and actually does require strumming, with chords. Since you've got GH2 you won't have to worry about this. Just hit each button that it tells you to.

One other thing: Make sure you don't have the guitar tilted when you are entering the codes. For some reason the tilt sensor in the guitar can mess up the code entry.

Edit: By main menu screen, since this may be confused with the "Press any button to start" screen, it's the screen that says "Career", "Quick Play", "Multiplayer", etc..

So I have a 360 and I want to hook it up to the internet. What is the best way todo this? have no clue how to do it and I would like to know the different options I have. gmrndlze

This page has virtually all you need to know, even has a wizard you can use if you know what equipment you're using already and can give you personalized steps to hook it up.

Read Step 2 in detail however, as that's pretty much the meat of what you need to know. Everything else is pretty straightfoward.

That's originally where I went first to look for it, but couldn't find it using the search engine on their website.

I'll have more of a look around there though, thanks.

Hi,

For quite a while now (Perhaps going on two months) I've been unable to access Xbox Live due to problems I am having with network setup and I have no clue on how to fix it. It's not that I can't connect, it's really that I have a wireless network and it's not the most stable.

Either way, putting that aside, I can still connect to Xbox Live SOMEWHAT. My question though is:

Do you still need an Xbox Live account to get firmware updates, or is there another way of getting them that doesn't involve Xbox Live? I can live without playing games online or downloading additional content, but ultimately keeping the system's firmware up to date is my concern.

but whats wrong with the single player? it just seems that if halo3 was a launch game people would still be talkin about it right now people would still play it but yet PDZ is unmentioned when people post topics like "what game should i get?" or "what are the best 360 exclusives?" never played any PD games but i use to be big on Goldeneye and people compare it very much to golden eye.Halo773ER

The GameSpot review pretty much sums it up as far as the single player campaign goes:

It's fortunate that the action is as good as it is, since the story in Perfect Dark Zero--which involves a power-hungry businessman's search for some sort of powerful artifact--feels surprisingly tacked on. A combination of voice-over mission briefings and rather unimpressive cutscenes using the in-game character models try to drive the plot forward, but it's easy to get lost in the details, and it's harder to care.GameSpot

Overall it just seems like the story took a backseat to the action is all. Halo on the other hand has a pretty well told and unique story.

Cops will bust into your house....

Were you trying to deceive Microsoft?!

FearTheRain

Touché.

Seriously though, not worth the risk as others have said.
