[QUOTE="Stavrogin_"][QUOTE="Asim90"]Bit of a contradiction there don't you think?Asim90

No, i can't see it. What's the contradiction?

Maybe take off your blindfold when you come out of that cave? First you were revealing the message of Islam to us with your great insight, then you said you're not discussing the message.

You seem to have a hard time grasping simple things. I did not mean the message of Islam i meant the message delivered by the suicide bombers - jihad. Because the person said "the quran doesn't say strap a bomb and kill yourself".

If you really believe that the message of Islam is to kill others you need to step out of your cave. Maybe read a history book or go and speak to a real life Muslim.Asim90
We're not discussing what the message of Islam is. All i'm saying is that violence and killings are justified in some cases and those who bash the violent claiming they're not real muslims\christians might be wrong.

[QUOTE="Stavrogin_"]People say you're not a real muslim or your not a real christian if you're violent but doesn't the bible/quran say use violence in certain situations, maybe those crusaders or jihadists who kill for god are the real believers?! :/omho88
I dun remember in Quran any verse that says bomb urselves or kill unarmed people ... I do remember some verses that says "we made you different to know eachother".

Maybe because bombs didn't exist back then. :) The method is not important, the message is. The quran has said fight the unbelievers. The Americans are unbelievers, they had opened military bases in the middle East which is muslim territory ergo their jihad is justified (according to the quran).

The bible has probably converted more people to atheists than the "atheism books" of Dennet, Harris, Dawkins or Hitchens. That is, if you read it with an open mind and notice its mistakes and contradictions, the made up stories, myths and so on. So i would leave it as it is. On another note, if i could change it i might try trolling it a bit and add even more nonsense.

[QUOTE="Stavrogin_"]You know very well. If the bible says the earth is spherical rather then a circle (like a pancake) then the second part about the tent is just not possible. It is however totally possible and likely if the Earth is flat. And i'll ask again, how is it possible to see the whole Earth from the highest mountain if it's spherical?

LJS9502_basic

I just gave you the Hebrew word that is used in that scripture and the definition.

Now you're just dodging questions. I didn't come here to argue but to ask a question and this has gone too far. I see you don't want to acknowledge anything and you're just arguing for the sake of it, i however, am not. So i'll stop here and end this discussion.
" and sheweth him all the kingdoms of the world," All the kingdoms of the world; all the kingdoms of the world that were known to at the time. It is important to take into account historical context. Not nearly as much of the world was known at that time as it is now. It is also important to take into account hermeneutics; to interpret the passage. Did Satan actually take Jesus to the tope of the highest mountain in the world and show him all the kingdoms of the world? Was Jesus taken to the top of the highest known mountain to see all the known kingdoms in the world? Was it simply a parable written to show the reader/audience some of Jesus' teachings? All these ideas must be taken into account when studying the Bible.harashawn
Even if it's not the whole Earth but just the kingdoms known at the time it's still an impossibility. I used get frustrated when i'm discussing religion with someone and he/she uses the "metaphor argument" when i quote a verse he doesn't like but not anymore, now when someone uses that argument i just quit.. If it's bad it's a metaphor if it's good it's not. Selecting which ones are metaphoric is completely arbitrary, whether it's a flath Earth, God killing people, the story of Noah everyone interprets it how he likes it not how it is.

Isaiah 40:22- It is He who sits above the circle of the earth

LJS9502_basic

"Four corners of the Earth" (to take an example) is an English phrase. Do you know for certain that this is an EXACT translation, and not just an approximation?

Yep. That is a common phrase....but his examples led me to this in regard to the quote I left in....

"He (God) sits enthroned above the circle of the earth." Isaiah 40:22

This passage from Isaiah was written approximately 2,750 years ago, nearly 750 years before Christ. The word for circle in Hebrew is khug which means to be made spherical, which is in total agreement with what we know of the Earth's shape today.

Interesting what one can find on the internet....

If the word khug means spherical then that would make the part with the tent impossible. Also, how is it possible to see the whole Earth from the highest mountain if it's spherical?
