Eh, I thought about that, for about a half hour lol. Getting anything older then a 120gb Elite anymore is just a waste of money. If it's the money that bothers you, try looking for an older arcade model, and then pick up a used HD. Shouldn't cost you more than $180 + tax.

Yes, another one of "those" threads, but I'm looking for mature opinions. I'm not looking for single minded fanboys, "I'm L33T @ Halo and pwnz" or "OMG PC costs $4000" junk please. I've been gaming for almost 30 years and that lack of intelligence does nothing but make gamers look like morons.
I'm primarily a PC Gamer, and I've never spent over $700 building a 2-3 year gaming rig, and I'm upgrading again this year with no plan on leaving PC. I also own a PS3 that I play the exclusives on, and, PC hardcore or not only a simpleton would deny the fact that some games are just more enjoyable on a console.
So, my dilema doesn't fall into the 'which system is better', becaues the fact is they all have their strong features and weaknesses as well. My dillema revolves around that fact that I no longer have an Xbox 360 and I'm having a hard time deciding to buy a slim or not. I'm primarily looking at the fact that a large group of friends from work all play on Live, and I do miss playing with them from time to time. It's nice to go into work the next day, talk about last nights games, talk some trash, or just have that cohesion with other Live players. I will admit that I do miss some of the Live Arcade games, and 1 vs. 100 was a prime example of what can be accomplished on a closed source system (too bad they took it away!)
So far since losing my 360 the PS3 has done a pleasant job of playing the console only games and my PC can currently handle any game that's out there, and the only game I see giving it a run for it's money is maybe Battlefield 3.
To be honest, the list of 360 exclusives is extremely weak compared to the PS3 and PC, unless I'm missing something. I don't really care for Gears of War or Halo, so that's where you guys and gals come in.
Am I missing something, forgetting about anything? Is there something other then just playing with friends to make it worth my $400 to get rolling on Xbox again?
Thanks in advance.
Thank you for your input, you made a few points I didn't think of. I don't mind investing in a new console if need be. Hell, the only console I think I missed over the last 28 years of gaming was an Intellivision lol. I just want whatever is the best option for her workouts. There are so many workout games, it's hard to tell what is good and what is great. I generally don't care about website reviews too much, user experience is always a better opinion. I've enjoyed alot of games that didn't get much publicity or ratings, and hated many games that got great reviews.
I have alot of friends who are using workout games on their Wii, and honestly, our house is primarily PC gamers and I don't have the first clue as to what is a good "workout" game or not. My wife is wanting to start working out using these programs, which seem to actually help quite a bit for those who don't have time to go to the gym. I have multiple friends who have lost 30lbs or so already with them.
We do have a PS3 in the house, and I've been contemplating whether to get the Move system and something like EA Sports Active 2 for the PS3, or get the Wii. My wife seems to want a Wii, but being a technician who visits 60 homes a week, I see alot of Wii's sitting in basement boxes or closets unused. I did notice though that the Wii has alot of early kids learning games, and with an 8 month old in the house they could be fun for them in a year or two.
Is it worth it to get a Wii for the workout programs, and kids games later on? Or better to get the Move system and use whatever workout games the PS3 has available?
Please don't bring fanboism and such to the topic, the best system is the one you enjoy the most, bottom line. I just need some opinions from experience, not preference.
Just thought I'd post this link here for if/when people come looking here to research or complain about peformance issues with BLOPS. There are some known performance issues and it seems to be related to CPU usage and possibly a memory leak as well. Some others are suggesting the possibility of Steam itself eating up your resources for some reason (could have to do with the high demand right now as it seems Bad Company 2 is crashing on people alot now as well).
Please read the info and testing thats already going on

Gah. My brothers keep resisting my efforts to sell my PS3. I want to get rid of that crap and get another gaming PC. They play on my rig WAY freakin more than they play on the PS3 but they still refuse. One day...one freakin day. Gamesterpheonix
Not sure what your brothers disabilities to build their own PC's has to do with the topic, but delete their save games, password your PC and tell them to get a job and build their own.
Starcraft, IMO is about as base RTS as it gets. It still uses a classic RTS formula (which I miss, and I really miss base building). If you can deal with older graphics...and I mean OLDER, Command & Conquer series or Warcraft series are great. World in Conflict is really really good as well, and because it doesn't have alot of building or resource management you can concetrate on learning strategies and figuring out the basics of the rock, paper, scissors aspect of RTS games. However the online community is pretty hardcore and not the place to practice in.
Keep it. I'm a PC Gamer but I also own a PS3. Had a 360 for a few months and got bored with it. But I keep the PS3 around for sports games, racing games, and exclusives. Plus the PS3's interface with Netflix and Hulu is more streamlined then running through our HTPC. Not to mention Blu-Ray if you rent movies.
Also some really good action/adventure games get really bad ports from console to the PC so if that happens to a game you want you'll be able to play a decent version of the game. Also if you are by chance like me and older with a wife and kids who game, having the PS3 around is great for party games, family games, and stuff like the Lego games that have really fun co-op. Also if your a football fan and are younger, having friends over you probably don't them to pile up mountain dew or beer around your PC.
There are some exclusives like Uncharted, Little Big Planet, and God of War which won't be seen on PC ever, that really should at least be tried out by anyone who enjoys games and isn't in the "I only play FPS games cause their cool" crowd.
Really cant wait for CoD: Black Ops. guess im starting to become a big fan of the games :P. their so much fun!!

[QUOTE="ferret-gamer"][QUOTE="hartsickdiscipl"]i wanted 60fps :) but i was more talking about the 3.5ghz quad core ended up being a bottleneck in that game. na it had to have been your video card :P. You baked it right? Now it's angry and wants to steal all your frames from you :lol:44fps isn't enough?

Nothing against Lost Planet but I wouldn't use it or any console game as an example for system effeciency. I have nothing against console games (loving Batman AA right now) but you never know what kind of backend junk they have going on bogging the game down. I'm on an older yet modest Phenom III 720 BE with the 4th core unlocked, HD 3870 CF and 4 gb of ram and I can't get Force Unleashed to stay stable past the cutscenes.
Stick with games with known engines like Left 4 Dead 2 or World in Conflict or something
