Why do I care if more people play games? Because it means more competition and more variety will spawn from it. That's your problem. You only look in the short run, and never in the long run. If more people play, more people will want to invest their time and money into games. Sure, not every one will be a gem, but more variety is a good thing. Just because you like one type of game (Violence-oriented) doesn't mean that the industry should be saturated by it.
Remember when every other game was a WWII shooter? Sure there were some awesome games MOH:AA and COD were fantastic games, but eventually it got old, and developers got new ideas. Thus came Halo, so many people enjoyed that game that another spawn of futuristic shooters came out, and now we have exciting things like Bioshock on the way.
The casuals are the bread and butter of the industry. Hardcore gamers represent a very small portion of the industry, and when the casuals go away, companies take away money and invest it elsewhere. When that happens, you can kiss your Resident Evil 5 gone.
Let me just give you a quick Econ lesson. If the Wii continues selling like it is, we will see companies trying to one-up (no pun intended) one another to create the most intriquing product in order to distinguish it from the others. This means that a lot of the trash that is pouring in right now (I'm looking at you Ubisoft) is going to diminish, and we are going to see more high-quality products. Developers go where the sales are. Why do you think that the PS2 got great games like Final Fantasy and the such? Because it had the most power? Hell no. It held the most opportunity to make money.

Yeah more variety... either mega crap like Red Steel or plain crap like WarioWare. The Wii has a lot of potential, but its lack of power is holding it back. Instead of getting Resident Evil 5 and Assassin's Creed it's getting Umbrella Chronicles and Rival Swords instead.
Call of Duty came after Halo, and Medal of Honor was fresh when it came out. Yes those FPS are getting old, but the Wii should be STRIVING on first person shooters since they sell alot. But alas, instead of getting a "killer-app" shooter like Half-Life, Gears of War or Halo we get Far Cry Instincts.
Yes, and when I kiss Resident Evil 5 gone, I will also kiss all that's fun about video games. What's happening with the Wii is the same that happened with Atari in the 80's - too many crap games being made. Hopefully the Wii doesn't use the controller as a rape game like that one game on the Atari.
We'll just have to wait and see.
5 months, 7 million sales? Yeah, we'll see alright.[QUOTE="Strider212"][QUOTE="AHUGECAT"][QUOTE="Strider212"][QUOTE="AHUGECAT"][QUOTE="natebayne"]Hugecat you are obviously a fanboy so there is nothing that can be said to persuade you. You think you have logical reasons for the Wii to fail. Its makes me laugh to read your posts.
the 360 already has the market where ps3 is trying to tread. The Wii is just simply more fun than the ps3. You honestly think graphics mean a damn thing? Remember this day .. when the ps3 fails... the 360 comes in 2nd.. and the Wii wins.
What else ya got fanboy?

The Wii won't win. Sure you can bring up the DS but the DS also has conventional games like Mario Kart, New Super Mario Brothers and Castlevania to back it up. The Wii is nothing but a failed gimmick.
Don't ever work as an economist, marketing consultant, or businessman in general.
An approaching 7 million sales disagrees with your "HUGEFAILEDLOGIC" and is making dollar signs appear in the eyes of developers.
And what do you get in return? Crap like Red Steel, Far Cry, TMNT, No More Heroes, Umbrella Chronicles, etc. etc.
Yes the companies are making money but destroying the gaming industry as well.
What? Because they are trying to expand the industry to people who do not play games? Riiiggghhtttt... First off, three of those you named are from a publisher who has a terrible track-record with games at the moment. Second, two of the games haven't even been released so don't you dare assume that you have a valid point with that.
Third, you are not a member of the gaming industry. You do not make games, therefore, your opinion means nothing to the companies that are making loads of money off of the Wii at the moment. Fourth, again, don't ever become a businessman because you would fail miserably. Companies are companies first, and game-makers second. Anyone that tells you differently is selling you something.
Finally, please be a rational-thinking human being. Great libraries of anything do not mystically appear after 5 months on a shelf. Do you think that when books were first written we had greats like The Lord of the Rings, The Tale of Two Cities, Dantes Inferno, etc.? Absolutely not, so stop your wining. If not we can go to McDonalds and I can order you a Waaamburger and some French Cries.
Yes, that is a bad thing. By expanding to people who don't play games, you're going to get more crap like WarioWare and less masterpieces like Resident Evil 5. This is a bad thing.
Ubisoft has a bad track record with the Wii because the Wii is trash. Ghost Recon, Splinter Cell, Rainbow Six, etc. etc. are all good games. No More Heroes looks to be cheesy while Resident Evil UC is going to be the next Dead Aim.
Why do YOU care if the companies make a lot of money? As a consumer (not a businessmen), I want the best games. I don't care if Nintendo makes $1358551325135. Can you seriously say you prefer Red Steel over Ghost Recon AW 2?
Yeah but there are also almost no good Wii games announced, the PS3 doesn't have a good library but the future looks better than the Wii's GAME wise.

I was hoping at best it would reach an 8. Thats all I am saying. What games are there to hype for the wii. They are putting out an avg. of ONE game every two months. So every two months feel free to hype that ONE game. rawbwilshSeriously, what do you expect out of them? Most of the developers didn't get full developing kits very close to the console's release. And where the crap are all of these awesome games that are coming out for the 360? Oh yeah, they're all still in development. Great games DO NOT come out every month. Besides that, they are releasing a lot more than one game per month. That statement is just ridiculous. One GOOD game every two months. I understand they are releasing games, but Every two months wii owners will have their ONE game to hype. Go on supporting the wii and continue to get burned people like you that defend it and dont question will prolong how long it takes for good games to come out. Nintendo knows this, so continue to get used and abused and continue down the same path of the gamecube. Did you not learn anything from the DS? I sold my DS because I was tired of waiting for good games, and a few months after I did, the darn thing boomed, and things started getting announced left and right. The system has been out for what less than six months? What do you expect? This is the first full quarter that the console has been active. You already have more games than the Gamecube had at this point. It had the most successful launch. And it has gotten the most positive press as of late. I can't say it any clearer: YOU HAVE TO BE PATIENT.
