No, its not; have you ever heard of the uncanny valley? Also: at some point in the future graphics capabilities will be such that EVERYTHING will look as realistic as it possibly can.....where do you go from there? I bet when that happens we will see a WHOLE lot more threads in places like this about GAMEPLAY. But until that day comes we are going to have fools bickering back and forth about nothing, saying nothing but, "Yay this because its got the l33t gfx!" and "boo that because it doesnt have good enough graphics." Actually kind of like the OT's original post....

I said to an extent. I agree that we need the Wii here, yet some many people don't realize it. Just as I'd hate to have 3 console powerhouses I would hate to have 3 consoles that are gameplay only based. When the smoke clears and the dust settles the console with the best games is always going to win imo.

Graphics WILL reach a point where they cant go further in terms of realism. They havent gotten their yet but they will and probably sooner than most people think.

Not at all. Graphics can exceed realism.. For example, look at the Movie 300. It is realism, and it's improved with art. Well thats my opinion, I'm one of the people whom love the lighting in the movie "300". It should be like that in everymovie.

I thought 300 was a great movie, but I don't want to see that graphical style saturate every single movie that I see from now on. I want variety. Had the Lord of the Rings movies had the same lighting, I wouldn't have enjoyed them half as much.

No, Sony and Microsoft lost money so they could become the Media Center of your home... They get the money back from you, don't worry.

They really explains the 1000 dollar manufacturing cost for the PS3 at launch, that explains the 600 manufacturing cost for the 360 at launch.. /sarcasm Whats the cost for the Wii? Probably less than 60 dollars.

It does... You buy the Xbox pay for stuff on XBLA, or Gold Memberships for XBL, and bam in a few years all cost that you saved on hardware are spent on data, movies and IPTV and whatever else Microsoft comes up with that consumers will be willing to buy like it's no tomorrow... It's smart take a loss now to make it back 10 fold later.

Not true. Microsoft and Sony's gaming division are constantly in losses. While Nintendo is always making money, off of the WIi and off of the things you buy on VC/games etc.

Then doesn't that make them smart businessmen? If those games suck, yet they continue making money, someone must being buying them and enjoying them. Just because you won't pick up anything without a wannabe movie script and cinema-quality visuals doesn't mean that someone else is interested in it. Why don't you call the Waaambulance and quit your whining.

It's unlikely Nintendo will be able to compete with the likes of GTA, GT, Halo, FF, MGS.

Just want to point that out. Unless Nintendo has something up its sleeve I can easily see Sony eclipsing Wii sales and I can also see MS maintaining its lead over the Wii especially since Halo is just around the corner.

They do have something up their sleeve. It's called casuals.
