The last games they developed by themselves were Gravity Rush 2 and, Knack II.

ASOBI is really the only salvageable team at this point considering Team Gravity/Siren and, Team Ico are gone.

It's sad but, Japan Studio hasn't truly been the same since the PS1 days. They really are better off partnering w/ devs to make games like Demon's Souls, and, Bloodborne.

This also makes me question why every high profile Playstation fan is so excited for this supposed "Silent Hill" game. The Pony community on youtube, people like MBG, as well as various "insiders" who are bordering on q-anon levels, keep single-handedly trying to will this PS5 exclusive Silent Hill game into existence.

I dont get it. That franchise hasnt been relevant in almost 20 years (PS2 era), and none of them were massive sellers, so I doubt most modern PS fans hyping this so much have even played the PS1-PS2 games. The PT Kojima game was exciting, mostly because of Kojima and other high profile names that were working on it (like Gueillermo Del Toro, and horror manga artist Jungi Ito) moreso than the Silent Hill franchise itself.

But apparently this "rumored" (I use that word loosely) game that Playstation Japan Studios is working on doesnt involve any of those people either, so it is even further puzzling why Playstation fans are hyping this franchise up so much. At this point, I think Playstation fans will hype anything with the Playstation logo attached to it.

Could be a great opportunity for Microsoft, considering they are rumored to be ramping up in Japan, and actively courting Japanese support. One of Xbox's biggest rumored acquisition targets is SEGA. MS needs to strike Sony while the iron is hot.

As an Xbox fan, and gamer who grew up on Square, I couldnt give any less of a chit. I say go ahead Sony. Waste $10 billion dollars on a graveyard of past-their-prime IPs that havent been relevant in 20 years. . 🤣

We are now like 6 US Presidential terms removed from the last good Final Fantasy game.

Think about that. Final Fantasy X (the last good game in the series) predates September 11, the "War on Terror" and the US invasion of Afghanistan.

WWE was still called WWF when that game came out. Windows XP wasnt even out yet when that game came out. Go ahead Sony. This definately makes up for losing f*cking Elder Scrolls, Fallout, and Starfield (and Doom, Wolfenstein, Dishonored, and Prey. ) Go ahead guys, show Microsoft who's boss 🤣🤣🤣. You can go ahead and "take" Konami's washed asses too while you're at it. 🤣

I dont even want MS to attempt to fight this. Although, I wouldn't mind MS trying to pick off Crystal Dynamics and Eidos Montreal before it happens, as there were rumors SE was considering selling their western branch assets (ala IO Interactive) anyways, but even if I didnt game on Sony consoles, I could live without'em on Xbox.

Forza Horizon 4 came out over 2 years ago. The game will likely hit the "best sellers" list on Steam when it releases there. That means there's likely 100K+ people that will rather pay for FH4 than subscribe to Game Pass or buy the game on the Microsoft store. The "money left on the table" refers to all those sales that could have happened in 2018... And the game being on Steam at launch would have more sales potential that it will over 2 years later. And is the game selling at $60 on Steam?

These moves to put games on Steam is showing us that the games aren't doing the numbers they want them to on Game Pass or the Microsoft Store. So now Xbox is willing to bring in less revenue in order to get more eyes on the game. Why not just launch on Steam day 1? This continues to be a trend all these years later. Game Pass and Microsoft Store aren't making any meaningful penetration on PC. Especially when a single Switch game can bring in more revenue that all Xbox first party games AND subscription revenue COMBINED on PC AND consoles.

This is stupid logic. Was Horizon: Zero Dawn ported to PC because it "didnt do the numbers Sony wanted it to" and they needed more eyes on the game?

Or was it ported 3 years after its release, long after it had maximized its earnings potential on its original platform, because they wanted an essentially "free" short term revenue burst, and they no longer viewed a PC port as a threat to devalue that original platform?

The same applies here. This game has maximized its earnings potential, and everyone who wanted to play it in Gamepass already has. This is just a "free" short term revenue burst.

@iamthetruth101: Ys 8 is not on xbox. I wouldn't count on 9 being. It's been a PS/PC franchise for years now

The point is its out of Sony's hands. That's why its better to have your own first party, games/devs that you own and control rather than doing what Sony is doing and relying on third party hand outs. If certain third party games go multi-plat there isn't anything Sony can do about it

https://www.polygon.com/2021/2/1/22261208/yakuza-judgment-ps5-xbox-series-x-release-date-google-stadia-sega

Yakuza is a popular series that was mostly on Playstation and to an extent PC, now every Yakuza game is on Xbox, every future Yakuza game is on Xbox and almost the entire series is on Game Pass

That's what the 360 did, Mass Effect, Bioshock, Alan Wake, Splinter Cell etc. Hell even Gears was third party until MS bought the IP

Come April, the entire series will be on Gamepass.

I think the only remaining games are Yakuza 6 (which comes in March) and Judgement was just announced (which comes in April).

Destruction All Stars is another game Cows would be calling "Gamepass Fodder" and trash if it were an Xbox game. 🤣

There is literally nothing Cows hate that they wouldn't immediately love with a Playstation logo attached to it. 🤣🤣🤣

Lems be like, wait.. it's a game... that's free to play... and there's no rental fee involved? 😦

I just hope Cows will keep the same energy and give this game the same public flogging they gave Bleeding Edge just for existing.

A side project made by 14 people stuffed into the janitors closet at Ninja Theory, and Cows couldn't even let it live. If it aint a AAAA blockbuster, Cows dont value it. Unless it has a PS logo. I see nothing in this game that looks better than Bleeding Edge.

Lol at lemmings praising Microsoft for dropping paywalls on free games.

Weren't you calling people poor the other day for calling out Sony's $70 price hike on its games, and still not having a value proposition like Gamepass? And dont you and other cows regularly compare Gamepass to welfare and EBT, and gladly proclaim your enthusiasm to pay Sony $70 for games like Returnal? Now Cows are frugal and fighting for the "little guy"?

The best part about all this has been watching every Cow become fiscally responsible in the past 24 hours 🤣

Xbox users getting treated like second class citizens as usual lol.

Im sure Sony paying for a timed exclusive demo and marketing rights makes up for Elder Scrolls, Fallout, and Starfield.
