Based on this information, I'd say Disney is ruining the movie.
Han Solo does not need to make an appearance. Solo was a smuggler, not a freedom fighter before A New Hope. He had no idea what was so important about the droids/information they carried. It makes no sense for the film to go off-course to include him. This movie was intended to be a "war" movie and not a classic Star Wars movie! If it should've matched the tone of A New Hope why did they greenlight it in the first place?
@Xristophoros: Um, no it wasn't. I wasn't expecting the greatest Star Wars movie, but I was definitely expecting something better since Kasdan wrote my favorite movie (Empire) in the saga. I was expecting JJ Abrams to break the laws/conventions of the Star Wars Universe to resolve the plot in an unsatisfying way and he didn't disappoint (i.e. jumping out of hyperspace in a planet's atmosphere). I wasn't expecting a remake of A New Hope.
I think everyone expected it to surpass the prequels and it failed...except for maybe Attack of the Clones.
@Fia1: The previews for Warcraft don't make me want to see the movie. A good movie in a fantasy setting (LOTR) is something that would draw me to the theater, heck even the drawn out and boring Hobbit drew me to the theater. I think some of the lore around Warcraft could've been written, directed and showcased as a good movie. I'm not interested in video game fan service. The only thing Warcraft has going for it, is the lack of competition, therefore It'll probably have decent first week returns.
Assassin's Creed seems to have the potential for a story better suited to a general audience. However, it's got the worst release date possible, despite any problems the Disney exec's see with Rogue One. AC needs to hope the re-shoots delay the release of Rogue One.
There's no way it'll be called the Xbox 1-2, as that would be a logical iteration of numbers which MS steadfastly shuns. My guess would be the XB1-∏ (pi), although that's probably too logical as well.
The game I spend the most time playing, like nearly 5 years straight (with no other mistresses and at the expense of many hours of sleep), was World of Warcraft. So by default, I guess that's the best game I've played over the past 20 years.
Final Fantasy Tactics, Heroes of Might and Magic 3, Civilization 2, Age of Wonders: Shadow Magic, Diablo 2, Baldur's Gate (series), Valkyria Chronicles 2 are all great games that I've played for hundreds of hours...though some might be older than 20 years.
@Suaron_x: Based on what little I've heard on the Assassin's Creed movie, it seems like they might have it right. They made a story based on some ideas presented in the video game, but didn't tie themselves to gameplay conventions or previous stories. If they actually have a good story the AC movie could be the best video game movie ever made and possibly be miles ahead of anything else.
