@Attitude2000: I don't think the Scropio will appeal to the casual crowd. I'm betting it has at least a $600 price point at launch. It'll appeal more to informed/avid gamers, like those that purchased the XB1 Elite Controllers and Systems.
@VakarianGirl: I'd buy the Scorpio if it ran all XB1 games at 1080p/60 fps consistently and had faster load/install times. I'm not buying it if it requires a 4K TV to be of any use. Based on the article above, I'd say why even build it...because the market for 4K gaming is extremely small.
Did the MS marketing team screw up their message by saying 4K TVs are required? Isn't the Scorpio also required for VR? I'd bet VR tie-ins would generate more sales than 4K TV requirements.
@joshrmeyer: I doubt it. Like PCs, I think the graphics settings will be variable on the Scorpio, but the option to adjust settings won't be made available on the base XB1. Everything will be available in one physical package or the additional programming for the improved graphics will require a download. As time moves forward downscaled games may not be desirable to play. I have a feeling only a few games will be designed to handle 4K graphics over the Scorpio's life-cycle. The cost prohibitions of both a new TV and a more expensive console will likely keep sales in check for the rest of this generation.
@Fartman7998: I tend to play male characters when it's from a first person perspective. When I have to look at the characters behind for 40+ hours, I prefer the female character. (When available) lipstick lesbian romances are another perk of playing females.
@Barighm: I thought the Minecraft purchase was stupid, but at least Minecraft generates money. This purchase is just baffling. MS would've been better off spending the money on shifting XB1's.
@Lyansidde: What are gamers supposed to have a lower threshold for story telling? Almost all of the reviewers say "but it'll appeal to fans of the game." Really? When I see a movie I want a good story. Seeing a video game rendered in big screen CGI is of no interest to me. I was a huge fan of WoW but I think the trailers show cheesy CGI effects and can't hide the lack of story. I have no intention of watching this movie in the theaters, and probably not even when it's replayed on basic cable.
