Who saw this crazy future back at the dawn of video games?

The nightly news has run stories about idiots and their mis-adventures with Pokemon Go every night this week.

Free2Play games evolve to require people to frequent (and encourage purchases from) brick and mortar establishments.

Governments of world to start passing laws to regulate video gaming impacts on real life activities.

This is too crazy, I hope I wake up soon.

@Spartan_418: Past failure doesn't negate intent. Despite backtracking with the XB1, MS still wants all it's Xbox players to be always online. You can read countless statements from Spencer saying they are focusing on Gold Subs and not consoles sold going forward. They can't sell online subs to pc users now, because they are so used to free. They definitely can't sell always online directly to pc customers (even though 99% probably are always online in some fashion) due to previous XB1 backlash. So yeah, they aren't implementing any of it tomorrow however they do have a timeline around maybe 5 or 10 years down the road. Offer a service people like, once they get hooked, then you implement a way to monetize it. The first step in the monetization process will likely be having all first party MS games only being sold through the MS store.

New PC games tend to list at $50 instead of $60 due to console manufacturer royalties. In the short term new console/PC hybrid games should all begin listing around $60, much of which will go to MS as Windows royalty fees (for providing the cross-system support). The president of Epic games squealed about MS and Windows 10 restrictions in an article earlier this year. Believe me, MS wants more control of games running in their Windows products.

Blah, blah, blah. It all sounds like some wonderful, benevolent idea, but you have to realize businesses look for opportunities to make money. Microsoft sees an opportunity to charge PC users fees for multiplayer gaming experiences and collect royalties from PC games. Play Anywhere is bait. PC gamers will see when the hook is firmly set and you're suddenly bleeding money to your Overlord, MS. Though really you should've learned your lessons with Word, Excel, etc.

I'm tired of Hollywood. I haven't seen one film this year. I don't know if I'm seeing any films this year either. Maybe I'll see Star Wars or (gulp) Assassin's Creed. I don't have any excitement to see either really...it's more like I just want something to go see at the theater and I'm settling for B-movies.

After Nolan's 3rd and highly disappointing Batman, I gave up on super hero movies. I was never really a big fan though. I'm done with Star Trek also. Personally I liked the Next Generation to the original cast. I didn't care much for JJ's remake and have no desire to see it again. Star Wars is skating on thin ice with me. One more "re-imaging/re-make" and I'm out.

Hollywood's new big thing is redoing movies with different genders or adding gay romances into films. I'm not interested in either. I think Super hero movies are on the way out *if* they change them to match the new direction in the comics.

I've never seen a "decent" or "fair" movie based on a video game. In order for video game films to ever have a chance at becoming the "thing" their has to be one that can be called "pretty good." Until that day I wouldn't bet the farm on any video game film. There's still lots of great Sci Fi novels out there that could be made into feature films, that have fresh storylines/plots.

I'm not interested in Suicide Squad either. A bunch of super hero villains teaming up to be heroes...yeah my suspension of disbelief is totally broken on that concept. I'm sure the inserted levity will just flow naturally and make the movie even more enjoyable. Besides I hate mixed super hero movies.

I find it sad that Marvel/DC can't create new original characters to "diversify" their super hero portfolios.

Keep in mind, bemoaning these changes on a gaming website will not change this idiocy. If you don't like the changes, the best thing to do is not to buy any of these products. Hit these arrogant radical racist/sexist companies in the wallet. If you continue to support these types of things, Hollywood will just continue to do it. It's just a matter of time until Disney reboots Star Wars with a reverse gender cast and the iconic line from Empire becomes, "No Leia, I am your mother!!!"

@davillain-: Your video link was not helpful. I know how to download the game when it's in my ready to download que. The problem I'm having is when I go to the gold section where you can download the free games for the XB1, you can not download the free 360 game. As of right now I have to start my Xbox 360, purchase it (for free) there, then it'll be ready for download on the XB1.

When you click on the (free) 360 game on XB1, instead of a confirm purchase button, you get a show price button. The show price then takes you to another window commenting about having enough funds attached to your account and only gives you the option to cancel you selection. My account has over $20 attached to it, so that screen makes even less sense to me.

My 360 is running out of hard drive space and I prefer to play backwards compatibility games on my XB1 since the Elite controller is so much nicer to use. Does anyone know how to download the 360 games directly onto my XB1?

When I click on the Games with Gold section and select a free 360 game, it won't let me purchase and download it like I do with the XB1 free games. Yet if I go to the 360 and purchase it, it shows up in my ready to download section of the XB1.

Personally, I think the opening crawl should've been ditched after Jedi. It's not that I don't like the idea of crawls per se, it just seems like Lucasfilm really didn't give much thought to them after Jedi. Something written at an early elementary school level with lots of spacing to hide the lack of prose isn't really satisfying to me.

@inebriantia: Unless Apple pulls a MS and let's him off the hook for $10,000, he's getting nothing. He let his patent expire and he's representing himself. Apple's high priced lawyers will cut him to shreds and he'll probably end up owing Apple money.
