@pcgamingowns It's SUPPOSED to feel a little clunky. TLoU's world is harsh, brutal, and ruthless. Joel isn't Batman, he isn't Kratos, he isn't a grizzled sniper. Naughty Dog WANTS you to feel every hit, to make you grimace, to be careful of how you engage in fights.

@Kristhomas123 No, I think the majority of the Mass Effect 3 reviews get that particular honor.

Honestly, I'd be more interested in hearing Carolyn's take. Her character analysis is a lot more nuanced than Tom's. How do they decide who reviews what?

@wilson336 @Swoopalz I guess Tom and I have different opinions of the word "mundane". I saw this game at PAX and thought it was absolutely beautiful. The world actually felt alive. The atmosphere, the fauna, even the behavior and look of the zombies added a unique, colorful feel.

Maybe he's partial to the gray-and-brown post-apocalypse?

Definitely not enough to rationalize a one-fifth ding.

All I'm getting out of this review is that it's pretty much perfect, but the characters are "unsympathetic and unlikeable"(it's not like the entire point of the game's environment is to showcase how harsh humans and the world in which we live are, or that Ellie is *intentionally* the only "good" character) so that brings the score down by two whole points.

Totally makes sense.

I played the beta of this at PAX Prime last year and was lucky enough to have the sound designer guide me through the world. When my time ran out, he directed me to this nearby house filled to the brim with zombies where I was apparently supposed to kick the bucket. I lit a molotov and set the lot (and myself) on fire and walked away. The three employees around just watched and burst out laughing.

This indie game was among the most entertaining demos in the entire Expo Hall--and it was competing against the big titles like AC3, MGR:R, Dishonored, etc. It wasn't perfect, but it was some damn good fun. Honestly, for $20, I'll certainly be purchasing this. The whole team was very proud (and for good reason) and it's obviously apparent State of Decay was a work of love. And I encourage everyone even remotely interested to do the same and support the company, these guys were great.

I am absolutely floored by how out of touch Microsoft is.
