@deathwatch28 When he was going on and on about how much better the voice control was than just using a remote, I was thinking about a group of people all sitting in the room, talking loudly, while the console is on. Next thing you know, on the TV there's a video of some guy getting f***ed by a horse. Conversation stops, as all stare at the screen in horror.
Then, everybody starts going crazy with disgust, and you try to switch to something else, turn off the console, anything -- but the XBox can't hear you over the sound of everyone else being completely disgusted.
@moonlightwolf01 Without the screen OR the speakers. My home theater does most of the things the X1 is supposed to do, except for the Skype thing or the games. Okay, so I can't sync it to the tablet or smartphone that I don't have, and I can't navigate menus by waving my arms around like a jackass, but I can at least plug my speakers into it so I can at least take advantage of its surround sound capability.
@instigator81 Meh. Unless I can plug my surround speakers directly into the X1, I still need my home theater unit -- which plays Blu-ray/DVD/CD, and streams from Netflix, YouTube, Vudu, etc, as well as from my laptop. I'm pretty sure the home theater also does other things, put since I only use my TV for watching movies and playing games, I still haven't checked it all out yet.
And why would I plug a second "home theater" box into the first? To play games? That's what my X360 is for. Maybe if Microsoft were to release a "stripped-down" model that only plays games, and cut the price tag significantly, I might be persuaded to change my mind.
@Mubin This just in: Microsoft announced today that they will be marketing a sleek, stylish, new paperweight in Pakistan. The new paperweight is reported to have Blu-ray and Kinect capability, and a Microsoft spokesperson indicated that it may also play video games. Back to you, Harvey.
